anyone done lapand w/ plication

Someone told me something I didnt know today. Its called lapband with plication. Where they put your stomach in a pouch and do the regular band thing. She said you dont have as much invasive surgery as VSG or RNY and you lose weight just as fast! This is so cool! Anyone here had the plication lapband surgery done? How is it?

I believe there are a couple of people who have had it done. It is a very new procedure and personally I don't trust it, what happens to the tissue that is all folded over, does it die eventually or get hidden cancers? Just thoughts I have about it. Anyway hopefully one of them will post.

Please carefully explore all of your options.

I don't know much about the band/plication combo (I have seen one person here periodically who had it done).

I also wonder about the stomach that is 'folded in' --- some reports that it atrophies and begins to become necrotic.

One big feature of the VSG is that the portion of the stomach removed is the location where the hormone Ghrelin is generated -- and that elininates hunger (at least initially, there is some research to indicate that the body will learn to make ghrelin in the remainder of the stomach over time).

Trust me -- folding your stomach in on itself and suturing it IS invasive. 
If that stomach is not usable (and possibly rotting inside of you), why not have it removed in the form of a VSG?
