After I had my baby, I took ibuprofin, doc said it was ok to do as long as it wasn't for an extended period of time.

Hey!! How are you?? My dr. sent me home with prescription motrin, when I had my surgery. I could only take 400mg or 4tsp every 6 hours. I only took it a couple of times. I was told that you could take it, but not all the time because it will irritate your stomache. So, to me I think you could take it if you are in alot of pain. I don't think it would hurt. It not like you will be taking it every 6hrs for a week.

Good Luck...

Thanks Lynn! I'm doing good, how are you? I don't want to get in the habit of taking it all the time, i use too pre-band.I'll try it, I hope it helps, I  go to the dentist in the morning!

Im doing good too. I know what you mean. I think that motrin is better than tylenol, but I take tylenol now. Now if the pain is worthy of motrin, then thats what I will take. I hope you feel better, toothaches can be a MESS!!!

If you take Advil or Motrin, take it with an acid reducer to protect your stomach.

Bette is right.  I'm allowed small doses of Ibuprofen occasionally but I must also take a PPI such as Preacid or Prilosec.

And I'm told not to take them at exactly the same time as the Nsaid.. but to take a dose of the nsaid in am & afternoon and the PPI at bedtime.

Please check with your surgeon as they may have differing advice.
