Well, the day finally came for my Mom, 68.  Yippeee....she finally has entered the world of the Lap Band!!

She had surgery this morning and should be going home this afternoon!!  Now the hard part...getting control over the mind and years of compulsive, emotional eating!!

Wow! I am so happy for her! Tell her "Hi" from us, and to join us here on OH.

This is an exciting time for you too, but I would caution you to remember that this is her journey, not yours. Answer her questions, give advice if she asks, encouragement with out caveats, and let her find her own way to work her band. My way wouldn't work for you and neither will your way work for her.

That being said, have a wonderful walk together.

She's feeling pretty good today...her throat is sore and has some gas trapped in her shoulder, but doing great!

Granny - Thanks for the tips!  I've been doing it so far.  It's great to read and will help me remember to keep my lips zipped unless asked.. ;o)

I've told her about this site many times, but she is not that great on the computer.  She is on Facebook and I helped her join the Realize board there.  She's been posting and there is a pretty good support group on there.

Congrats to your mom! I got my band on Tuesday...and i feel fantastic today...at about 80% feeling better! already lost 7lbs since surgery...getting used to the weird feeling of not being hungry and feeling "full". i question if I ever felt truely full before surgery. She will do great....keep her walking....
