Comfort food alternatives?
get out of the stressful situation 1st
then I proceed to:
-go for a long walk or jog
or
-go shopping (a really bad habit!)
or
-call a friend
or
-check out other WLS blogs like Shelleys.... www.theworldaccordingtoeggface or
Jean M (author of the Bandwagon and Bandwagon newsletters!)
-come here on the OH forum....
all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence. I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!
I also like to read. It's very relaxing for me. I like to watch a good movie but unfortunately I kind of have the urge to snack during a movie...for me movies and food go together.
I like to take a stroll (not a brisk exercise walk...a lazy walk) in the park by my house. There's trails there and a it's right by the river. It's very pretty and peaceful. I like going there in the morning on the weekends. It's especially nice in the Fall with the leaves.
But if I do give in to a comfort food a couple of snacks I like that aren't as bad as what I used to eat are....Breyers Carb Smart ice cream, Weigh****chers cookie dough sundae, and one I made up my self... low carb graham crackers dipped in sugar free chocolate pudding or yogurt. All of these will satisfy my craving at a portion of the calories I would have normally eaten.
Or I will watch a comedy that tends not to be politically correct like Role Models, Lets Go to Prison, Tropic Thunder or Undercover Brother; movies of that nature because they are just plan funny and I can't stop laughing.
