The band is a funny thing.  There are so people that just can't tolerate it.  Some people have hardly any thing in their band and have trouble eating.  I on the other hand was the complete opposite.  I am able to eat anything I want, I can't as much as I want but I can eat what I want and have no problems at all.  I have 9.8 ccs in my band and until I got up to about 9 ccs I was able to pig out.

I guess it's just the individual person and how their anatomy is set up.

I am at a loss as to what you can do.  I know my surgeon says if you can't eat 4-6 oz of lean protein at a sitting you are too tight.  I know you said you have hard anything in your band.  Maybe you need less in your band.  Some people do fine with nothing in their band.  If I had nothing in my band I would be able to eat a house!!!  I think you should try getting an unfill and see how that goes.

Thanks I will see him tomorow and see what he suggests for me. What I don't understand is the same food works one day and maybe not the next day. I have 1 1/4 cc not alot...i don't need alot to get full and don't get hungrey so I know it works..

I have been the same way. I am very sensitive to fills. I am 3 years out I just got a fill and this is the best one yet. I can eat but it;s very little and I'm full. I have had a hard time wih throwing up for 3 years. Sometimes you just get to the point of chewing it up and spitting it out!

The band is just soooooooooo unpredictable. I've kind of gotten used to it for the most part, but it is extremely annoying when your looking forward to going to your favorite restaurant...........then when u get there............the band decides to tighten.

I'm very glad that the band works for some ppl. However for most of us it just doesn't seem to work as advertised. :-(

Oh and btw.............the very thin sliced roast beef doesn't work well for me either. Try getting it sliced not so thin. I know thast doesn't make any sense. U would think that it would be easier to chew and digest very thin, but it kind of seemed if it was thicker, it worked better.

Spuddzy,

(((hugs to you  my friend)))  Is the heat really bad at your place right now ?? The heat and humidity is something awful here right now. With heat index we are between 100- 115 degrees outside for the next 48 hrs .

I dont have anything in my band and I'm not having problems with food right now  I'm eating the same things as I always did but I feel more restriction right now also.  Just drinking a glass of water is filling me up . I dont like my band this way :o(  If I had fills I would be going to the docs tomorrow lol.

I'm basically to the point I'm not even getting  hungry and I think its due to the heat and  humidity outside .

I know the girls said that plays a big part in the banded life and this is the first time I have experienced this since my surgery .

Even though you dont have much in your band , some people just dont need anything in their band maybe you are like that to ??   Just having the band around your tummy is just enough .
Maybe you just need a smidgen taken out like a 1/2 of a cc or even less ?

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble. Heat, humidity, stress, and TOM mess a lot of people up. I find that if I am having trouble with tightness I have to really extra hydrate myself, especially before a meal. It is frustrating, but see what your surgeon has to say. I hope you are able to adapt. better. Good luck, Sue

every day is an adventure.  I get most frustrated when I don't have time for coddleing my band, like a busy day at work. I have just learned to expect the unexpected bc I know I would gain all the weight back and more without my fickle friend.

You need your band adjusted. It's too tight and it doesn't matter how little you have in it. You may have a band that was too small for the width of your stomach wall and even no fill might be too tight for your band. You may be one of those bandsters that doesn't even need a fill period.

I know your frustration.  I was rocking along fine.. and suddenly lunch was a no go Monday.  No idea why.  Back to normal by suppertime.  Weird.

Sue is right, hydrating before meals can really help.  You might also try drinking a cup of something warm (tea, coffee, water with lemon, broth, thin soup) right before your meal and see if that loosens your band enough to let you eat.

Hope you feel better soon.
