Has anyone done the Couch to 5K program? I might start doing it on the treadmill, running outside gives me shin splints. I was wondering what others experience with it is has been like.

Thanks!

I like the Couch to 5K program and I actually take it slower than the program.  That's the great thing about it.  If you want to you don't have to progress to the next level, you can stay on the level for as long as you want.  You have problems with shin splints.  I have problems with migraines.  If I push myself to hard while exercising I get migraines so I have to progress very slowly.  So this program is great for beginners and people like us that have some problem and need to go slowly.

About your shin splints...do you have shoes with good shock absorbancy?  I hear that's very important

I agree with cma - definitely get some RUNNING shoes.

I only use my running shoes inside the gym.   I wear flip flops in, and flip flops out.

Also - keep in mind that if you get your runner's wet, the life of the shoe is cut in half, and will break down much sooner, providing little support.

I thought it was some kind of a new weight loss fad.
