Adding calories without fat?

I've been banded for almost three months, and I'm finally getting the hang of it (hah).  My protein levels are great, fat low (99% of the time), making the right choices and logging my weight measurements activity and food intake to keep on track.  My only issue is I'm not getting enough calories in each day.

I know I should aim for no lower than 1000, but I hover between 650 and 800 usually.  It's not for lack of trying but I can't seem to add calories without loads of fat or carbs.  So I ask the collective banded brain trust, what can I do?

I usually have a snack twice a day.  A cheese stick, 80 Cal's and 8 grams of protein, or apple slices with some peanut butter.  Baby carrots with light ranch dsg. Or a Greek yogurt, 170 cals and 14 grams of protein.  It's pretty easy to get more cals in.

Remember not all fat and carbs are created equal.  Eating complex carbs and healthy fat is part of a balanced diet.

So as mention before eating fruit is good complex carbs.  Some healthy fat is a good for you too...avocados and almonds are good choices.

It's a good idea not to eat less than 1000 calories.  This will slow your metabolism.

Good luck.

You really do need to get your calories up that is way to low , especially if you are doing any kind of exercise.  My Zumba alone burns 600 calories just in a hr if not more when I do the weights with it .  So I eat between 1000 to 1400 per day .   Start eating snacks between meals. That is the only way I can get my calories up for the day .

Beef Jerky is really good snack high in protein, very low in fat, and no carbs bu****ch the sodium !!!!!

Like the girls said complex carbs.  I eat alot of fruit even though it has carbs in it , its good carbs for us.   I love pineapple and I eat alot of that , especially at night if I get the munchies (head hunger)

Not knowing what foods you like, check out different receipes and see how they work with you.  Don't get excessively worried.  The day will come all too soon that you may be able to eat more than enough calories.

Just to echo what was already said... FAT IS NOT BAD!!!  Add some fat to your diet PRONTO in the form of dairy, lean meats, eggs, nuts, avocado, good oils... SOMETHING.  I snack on things like cheese cubes, raw nuts, sliced avocados, deli turkey and apples smeared with all natural peanut butter.  Your body needs that fat and if you don't eat enough calories your weight loss is going to stall out because your body will hang onto every morsel you give it.

The same is true for carbs.  A carb doesn't have devils horns.  Whole wheat pasta, multigrain bread, yogurt, fruits, all these things have carbs in them and they are GOOD for you.

Just something to think about.  Good luck!!

I'm currently getting between 35-45g fat daily.  I'm not really sure where my aim is I guess, which is why I've been trying not to add fat.  I'm also RARELY hungry during the day and have forced myself not to snack.  I have recently started eating a handful of tomatoes from the garden before dinner.

I'm usually not a carb watcher and not sure why I started.
