Protein

I've been logging my food daily, working out faithfully, and overall, doing very well.  My question is this...

My Dr says to have 60-70 grams of protein daily.  Many days, my protein totals 90 grams or more.  Will this hurt me?  What are your thoughts?

More than likely, no it shouldn't be a problem.  Most doctors give the 60 to 70 as a minimum range.

The only ways I could see it being an issue are 1) if the increased protein kicks you above the calorie range you are shooting for.  2) if you have some other physical issue that mandates you keep your protein on the lower side ie, kidney problems or some such.

My nurses are always glad to answer quick questions like that.. non-urgent I leave a voicemail and they call back when they have time.

Congratulations on your successes!

My dietician says that it's o.k. to have over 100 g of protein as long as your calories stay where you want them to be.

Good job on the protein!

I was told a minimum of 90 grams a day.  It has not hurt me at all.
Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.

If you have an intense workout schedule, it will actually benefit you.

From what I understand, higher amounts of protein is not a problem as long as there is no kidney problems.

Are u doing protein shakes or bars? That is often the only way I can keep my protein levels up.
