Help--after a fill
I got a fill today-- 1cc added for a total of 5 and 1/2 cc's. I ate a banana very slowly in the office to make sure it would go down and it did. This afternoon I tried to eat a very ripe plum and it got stuck .I finally got it up and sipped on warm broth for dinner to give it a break. At bedtime I tried to take my medications and it caused me to slime and regurgitate.
My question is am I too tight or do you think I need to give it a day or two to calm down? Do you all get sensative after a fill? Also, how many cc's did it take you all to get to the green zone or sweet spot?
Thanks,
Amanda

My doc makes us do liquids for 24 hrs after a fill because there is some swelling. Then he would move us to soft foods for a day then back to normal foods .
He let you eat a banana in the office ?? That is the first time I have ever heard of this wow !!!! I have never ever heard of a doc making a patient eat something especialy a banana right after a fill gosh.
I dont have no fills in my band so I dont know how long it takes to get to the point where you want to be .

that is interesting Amanda I have never heard of that before learn something new every day lol.
If it was me I think I would go on liquids for the next 24 hrs maybe even 48 hrs since you have been sick . Eating anything more right now could make it worse for you .
Then I would slowly introduce soft foods back in. mashed potatoes, eggs, refried beans with cheese and then move back to normal foods.
If you still have problems when you start eating again I would call the doc back. Its better to be a little loose then be to tight :o)
Good luck

The banana is unusual in my limited experience, but since it's a very soft food without a skin, I can see using it as a tightness gauge. I've always been asked to just drink water after a fill. Banana is a bit high in sugars and mashed potatoes are white carbs which is why some bandsters avoid both.
I think the problem started with the plum.. unless you peeled it. Fruit skins/peels are an issue for some bandsters.
Yes, go to liquids for a period of time. You could call your doctor's office and ask their opinion too. I think I'd do the liquids for breakfast and maybe soup for lunch and if that went down, then move slowly to things like very smooth chicken salad (little if any chunks of chicken). If ANY item causes a problem.. stop and go back a stage and stay there a meal or two and then try to advance again.
If you ever get to a point where you can't keep liquids down, call your doctor's office.
If you haven't already, you may need to start taking your meds/vitamins/supplements with a warm drink to help them go down. I just finished taking mine with a cup of decaf coffee.
Hope you feel better soon.

What a difference time makes. We always drank a small medicine cup of water right after the fill to make sure it would go down but never told about the banana. Never really got too sweet but I had several fills before real restriction. Pet that band. Liquids sound like the thing to do to make sure you are not too tight.
