Can't drink cold fluids anymore

Hi

SInce getting the band, I can't drink cold fluids anymore. It sits in my stomach/esophagus and feels like a bruise inside me, so bad it makes me gasp with each sip. Now we are in winter (yes, I am in the southern hemisphere) I can't even have tap water as it is freezing outside and the water is correspondingly cold. I have to warm my water in the microwave to get the chill off! This is even with taking small sips and happens even with the first sip. Even 'room temperature' water is cold at home as we only put the heating on in the evening.

Anyone else experience this?

Cat.

I've had that problem as well - warm/room temperature fluids "go down"much smoother for some reason.

It's weird, but drinking cold fluids through a straw seems to help me. I think it negates your ability to really gulp down liquids and lets you control it a little better.

I don't get the bruised feeling (yet), but I do feel cold fluids sit for a moment before passing on through.  Warming in the MW is a good strategy.  I tried room temp water this morning.. it went down much easier (I'm in Texas, USA).

Different times of the day, my band prefers different temperature liquids.

sometimes, cold beverages are fine -- other times, they sit like a brick in there.

Just go with it --- warm your water as you need to -- and be prepared for that to possibly change for you as you go forward.
