Has anyone else had reflux problem after 3 years of being banded?

I have occasional reflux but usually only when I eat too late at night or irritate my esophagus from eating spicy or acidic foods.  Slight reflux showed on my last upper GI but not too concerning.  I take generic Omexyprole and that helps a lot.

You should always check with your surgeon though... it can be a sign of being too tight or other issues.

Best~

I started having bad reflux after about 19 months out and it turned out my band had slipped.  I would definitely check with your doc, maybe you can get an upper GI done just to make sure all is well.

For a few months, before I knew I had a slip, I would sporatically not be able to eat or drink.  I would have days tha****er was making me slime and PB.  I had sleepless nights of reflux and choking.

Then I would have days and nights where things were pretty normal, so I would think that my band was fine.

I agree please see your surgeon. I had no problems until about 2 1/2 -3 yrs out and then I kept getting tighter for no apparent reason, no fills or anything. I had a 1 cc unfill twice in 1 year and finally 2 months ago I had it completely emptied to stop the tightness. Now I did this mainly because I don't have bariatric insurance coverage anymore and can't afford to pay for fills and unfills. If you have coverage you may want to try filling and unfilling to get to a more comfortsble spot but there are many of us that get this after a few years. Good luck and what ever you do don't stay too tight for too long it can cause damage.

You may have a slip and don't be surprised if it doesn't show up on the tests they perform. Can you give us some more information on this.

I had a unfil and I am having no more problems, but I can eat too much. I can't go back for 4 weeks to get more back in. i think it tightened on its own, now i need another fill. I have lost 105lbs, but today i was able to eat a whole hamburger bread and all YIKES!
