I am sure that you are going to get many different answers on this topic.  I was told by my doctor to stay away from it.  Some people accidently swallow the gum, which can potentially block the stoma.  I have resorted to breath mints instead.  I really do not want to run the risk of having a blocked stoma.

Hello!  Yes, I would stay away from gum at least the1st 6 weeks while you are healing because you add air and gas to you as you chew it!

Good luck to you!

Where abouts in NJ are you?

all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence.  I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!
