one wee****il my surgery and I think I may have been abducted by aliens!!
...I am on day 3 of a 10 day liquid diet. I wasn't required to do this from my surgeon, I took it upon myself to do this. My hus band is in the military and he is gone 6 days out of the week. He comes home once a week for a 24 hour period. It has been tough on my spirit and I spiraled into an abyss I had never seen before. I guess the worst most torturous issue was my sleep pattern. I would stay up ALL nigh****ching tv and EATING..not snacking..EATING several full meals. It got to the point where I would stay up until 6-8AM and sleep until 3pm. I was literally in HELL! I tried sleeping pills..melatonin..you name it I tried it. NOTHING worked. I got a call from my insurance telling me that my surgery was approved, then I got another call from my surgeon telling me that surgery would be in 2 weeks!!
My husband came hom Saturday night, and I knew that if I was going to make a change it would have to be when he was home, so he could support me in my sleep pattern change. Saturday night I vowed to go on all liquids until the surgery, filling my body with fresh juices and protein shakes. I stayed up ALL night saturday and 4am Sunday morning..I decided to walk. I woke my husband up and we walked for two miles. we stayed up made juices and got our family ready for church (the first time in 2 months for me). After church all I wanted to do was SLEEP, so I took a nap..when I woke up I wanted to gnaw my arm off from being hungry..but I made it.
fast forward 3 days...I have been getting up at 4am every morning, walking 2 miles and getting to bed at 11pm!
This morning I stared on my two mile walk...and literally stopped and thought to myself.."omg! I think I've been abducted by aliens! What am I doin up this early and walking none-the less?!?!" I feel different...as my surgery grows closer I become more contemplative of my life, what got me to this point, what happiness meant to me and what I was going to do to ensure success with the Lap band.
I've been through alot in my life as we all have our own story...I've done many things and seen many places and have been blessed with meeting the most amazing people along the way..but at some point I got lost. I got flusterd and I gave up..on life, on myself, on the amazingly beautiful family that I have been blessed with.
One week from my surgery I am full of hope, optimism, and sense of purpose. I feel wonderful, refreshed, full of energy and am ready for the journey I am about to embark on!

I know that feeling and it is wonderful. It's like a high and I think it all because of the optimism. You feel like you have a chance for a different life. Congratulations. And good luck!!
(By the way... that whole changing your sleep pattern thing is HARD. I've been there. I had to change it a few hours at a time but sounds like you are doing a GREAT job!! Keep it up!)

thank you! and look at you with your 68lbs lost!! that is amazing! Yeah the sleep issue..had me going almost INSANE! I had a lot of depression from that. I think the key was changing to a liquid diet the same time as changing my sleep pattern. I am naturally tired at the end of the day now.. (going through food detox). When I was a Raw Foodist...same thing..best sleep of my life!!
Congrats on the changes you've made already. I remember getting up and walking at 4 & 5am the summer after my surgery (only time of day it was cool enough to walk in Texas). It is an incredible feeling.
And I envy you your doctor. I want to meet him in person one day. If I lived in AZ, I'd want him for my doc. At least I think I would.. lol.. we might not hit it off in person. But I like his web presence and the stuff he posts on fb.
One little thing I might mention.. if you're going to bed at 11pm and getting up at 4am, that's only 5 hours sleep. Most people lose weight better on somewhere around 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Just something to think about. :)
Again, congrats on your alien abduction!! :)
