Hi All...

Having a bit of some trouble here. I'm recently engaged.....living life and happier than ever. At the same time, I've gained a ton of " happy fat" I'm not sure how it's getting all in, but it is.  Any advice on how to get back on track.  Should I go back to the beginning phases....? I'm scared, cause I was doing so well.

Started at 252.........lowest 208, then maintained a healthy 210-217 and now I'm up to 227....what is going on?

Help!!

I don't mean to be harsh, but 'what is going on is that you are eating more than you are burning -- over a period of time'.

It is pretty much that simple -- and that hard.

I would suggest that you go back to writing down what you eat -- and assess where you can cut back.

I would not go 'back to beginning phases' because that implies liquids to me -- and liquids do not satisfy my hunger.

1.  write every bite
2.  no drinking when you eat (or for 30+ minutes afterwards)
3.  protein with EVERY  meal --- 3 - 6 ounces of protein per meal
4.  MOVE -- some exercise (even if it is just 10 minutes of walking) a day
5.  WATER, WATER, WATER

You can turn this around ---- stopping the gaining now is the key to changing the game.
You can do this!!!

Hi...

Not harsh at all...just basic and simple truth. I also have thought about going back to the basics.......and will do so.

Thanks :)

You can do it---one day at a time---plan everything out and prepare your meals ahead of time.  Realize that you are worth it.  Sending you positive thoughts and best wishes.  Harmony

RIGHT ON.  As usual you really nailed it.  I was messing around a couple of weeks ago-- eating crackers and chips etc that weren't on my plan.  My OA sponsor said "we can always find an excuse to rationalize and justify using food"  needed to hear that.  I am back to clean eating and am about 7# from being down 100# from my top weight.  The century mark is a big deal to me.  Thanks for hanging in there on this forum.  I for one really need you and the wisdom and experience you bring.  Thanks so much!  Harmony

The first step in fixing the gain is recognizing it.  Good for you!  I would stick with a lot of protein.  The more protein I get in, the less hungry and "snacky" I am.  Drink all of your water/fluids whatever works for you.  Good luck and I know you can do it!

I am this tight as well.  It was fine and then all of a sudden too tight.  Picked fresh strawberries last night and it wouldnt go down so acid all the way till i got home sat in my throat from the berries.  Didnt even get to eat any of them and they are good for me.  Its hard as well when others around you do not understand the band or care to.  I need to get an unfill before I lose my mind and become dehydrated and my work is so hard to approach and ask for time off so Im sitting here miserable.  Without food Im weak and end up with migraines.  So, I hear you!

I believe we do push our limits when unfilled too much and then we arent succesful.  I am to blame for that so I totaly understand where you are coming from!

But frustrated I cant even eat anything, including water now:(

Hopefully things pick up with you.  Our bodies are so odd wiht this bad!  I dont think I could maintain wihtout it so I need to get things figured out and i hope you do as well!

Thoughts and prayers coming your way!:)

Angela (and Margo too) - You have gotten good advice!  Take it one day at a time.  Limit your calories so your body will burn fat again.  Think back to when you were losing well before, what were you doing then that worked so well?  Do that again.  Change your mind-set, we tend to eat what we can get away with, which either maintains our current weight or worse, causes us to gain.  You want that "diet" mind-set.  Your are eating to lose weight, remember that.  Drink your 64 oz of water, get 70-80 grams of protein a day.  Don't drink with meals and move your body!  One step at a time and you can do it!  I am doing the same thing myself!  I have gained 10 pounds and I have NOW refocused back to LOSING again!  Good luck and make sure you come here for support often.

First of all, congratulations on your engagement!  Isn't it nice to be happy and feel loved just the way you are?  Here's the thing...you can't lose sight of your goals just because you're happy.  Think about what you want to do and where you want to be down the road.  Think about living a happy, ACTIVE, life with your husband-to-be.  Are kids in your future?  You're going to need good health and energy to be a parent.  BUT, most of all, think about what this means to YOU.  You've weighed 250 lbs in your past and you know what that felt like.  You also know what 208 feels like.  Pick a realistic goal of where you want to be weight-wise and break it down to small, manageable chunks.  I lost 10 lbs 11.5 times and that's how I broke down my WL journey.

Back to basics for you missy and if you need more support from your fiance, share your goals with hiim, your reasons and your gameplan.  He loves you now but he wants you to live the life YOU desire.  Happy wife, happy husband!

Best wishes~
