Port pain question for those around a while

Greetings!  I haven't posted in forever.  I won't drag this out but I am wanting to ask if those of you that are a year or more out from surgery are still having soreness from the port?

I am 4 years out and have hated where my port was placed from the day I woke up from the surgery.  When I sit up quick, have a bowel movement, or get in any crunched position for any reason my port hits my ribcage.  I thought I would get used to it but I haven't.  I had a mammogram today and the machine was up against it real bad and now there is even a bruise where the port is.  My port also flipped a few years back but I'm too much of a chicken to go back to the doctor and do anything since it was such a huge awful ordeal the first time.

It bothered me when I had lost some weight and now that the weight has crept back up it hurts even more.  Anyone else have the same issue?  Did you get it corrected surgically or what do you do?

Laurel,

My port was in a very awkward position at the start - it rubbed against my waistband, my kitchen counter, the counter at work. When my port flipped, my new surgeon relocated it and it hasn't bothered me since then.

I understand you being afraid to repeat a huge awful ordeal, but do you want to live with this discomfort for the rest of your life? Wouldn't it be better to get it taken care of now? I really think you need to talk to your surgeon about it.
