I've never come across anything like this before. Have you called your surgeon and asked him ? Maybe it's nothing but I keep thinking it's something, so call your surgeon and PCP to see what they have to say okay.

Bruising around the navel (belly button port area ) can be a result of bleeding within the abdomen.

Tell his nurse that while you value her opinion on this matter, that you want to see the surgeon.
Make sure he is in the office that day.
Fortunately or unfortunately a lot of band surgeons have a network of office personnel in place to handle all the post op care. This leaves the surgeons schedule open for more surgeries aka more money. Most of the time these personnel are better qualified then the actual surgeon at handling all band related issues.
Is it possible for you to be seen at the ER where the surgery was done ?

Kathy R., we have the same surgeon.
If you haven't been back in a while (which you stated in some older posts) you might not be aware that our doctor has affiliated with an internist for band management. You might like them better.. why not give the office a call and see what they say.
And if you haven't been to support group in a while, they were going to try to get a psychologist to speak at the next meeting. I don't know if it's been definitely arranged.. but also ask about that when you call.
I'd love to see you there. It's this coming Monday, July 18th at 6pm at the Office.. oh, and Dr. B's office has moved downstairs.
Blue under the port I would think would be pooled or old blood. Please do call to get this looked at .. either with Dr. B or the internist (can't recall her name..).

That's what I was told. Every time I went to Dr. B's office, I never saw him, only the one time when I had my surgery. I had a wonderful nurse who helped me but she is not there now. Why did Dr. B quit taking care of his band patients and are sending them to an internist. Does she have band surgery knowledge? I did not know they moved to the bottom floor. Is it the same building? I would love to come to counseling but I live 60 miles a way. I can't even get home from work and get to Tyler by the time the meetings started but thank you so much for your input.
He is still seeing the band patients if a problem arises.. such as what you are experiencing. The Internist is for routine visits and fills. They told me that Dr. B is moving the routine band care over because they were so busy that people were complaining about not being able to get fills in a timely manner. That wasn't my experience, but ok. :)
Dr. B and staff trained the Internist and her nurses on band management, or that's what I was told. I've seen the NP at the Internists office one time and had a tiny fill. I like them better in some ways, as they told me that they have BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) testing (not sure of the value of it, but have been curious about it for a while) and they also recommend a yearly UGI to check band placement, which Dr. B did not. I have had yearly UGI's done on my own initiative... because I think it's important, so the Internists view fits right in with mine on that point.
Yes, Dr. B is in the same building, they just moved downstairs so they're all in one large suite instead of preop being in one area and post-op care in another. And unless things have changed, Dr. B is in the office to see patients, if needed, on Wednesdays. I don't usually see him, but Lindsay has pulled him in a time or two when I had a question that she couldn't answer.
I just suggested the Internist as you seemed to be unhappy with Dr. B., but if you can get in on a Wednesday (make sure that is still the day he's in the office), that would probably be the best thing with the probable bruising you have going on.
I understand the distance thing.. I'm quite a ways from Tyler too. Almost the same distance. They do have a Monday noon group.. not sure if it's every Monday or not. I think the leader is Suzanne and it's focus is "getting back on track" .. I think? I've only been to one of those when I happened to be in Tyler anyhow. But it was good. And they're working on a "Lunch with Lindsay" deal where we will eat gather at some restaurant (I suppose in Tyler) and learn how to make healthy choices.
If we're near enough each other, I could give you a ride to support group at least one time. And maybe more if it works out. :) I took a friend to support group last month that was banded by a different Tyler bariatric surgeon. She could never make her doc's support group because it's during the day when she works. If you can't make support group in Tyler, maybe there's one closer at a different doctor's office that will let you attend?
If I can be of more help or support, let me know. If you're on facebook, Tyler Bariatrics is on there now too. Also Lindsay.
Which nurse did you have? Cathi or Lisa? Lisa is on fb too. Cathi got married and moved far away. I know change is hard, but I hope you will call and go in even if your nurse is no longer there. :)
