why does it do that???
Okay, I'm a little over 3 mths out from surgery. Why does weight stall? I thought I remember someone saying a couple of months ago that their are a couple of "stages" of stalls, like 3mths, 7mths and a year or something? I dont understand if the days I walk/run, should I increase my calories and how much? On the days I don't exercise, should I lower them? I am averaging about 1100-1200 a day, everyday. I don't know if the stall is my body catching up or if I am not eating enough? Boy I wish I could pin point this thing! LMAO!!! Any suggestions?
Thanks everyone!!! Lots of hugs to everyone!!

Jamie, I'm not a fast loser anyway, but I stalled when I stopped walking due to the heat and humidity of southeast AR. But THEN I upped my Zumba, and that helped. Plus, though I wasn't losing pounds, my clothes were still getting bigger. The thing lasted about a month. I lost 1 lb that month. Then I turned around the next month and lost 5 1/2 lbs. I'm happy with that. Next hurdle...a 9 day vacation in a little over a week to FL. Hopefully, I will see onederland before summer is officially over.
I do Zumba four days a week and two of them days is with two pound weights. I usually keep mine around 1200-1500 a day some days are lower and some days are higher.
I have never stuck to the same amount of calories per day or carbs I always jump around.
But I understand the stalls . I can lose a good 3-5 pounds in two weeks and then I will go a week up to three weeks and not lose a single pound.
It's frustrating but I'm going to start just weighing in every two weeks . Right now I know I'm getting ready to start TOM.
When I left to go camping on Thursday I was at 288 and when I came home I was up six pounds !!!! I know I didn't eat that much most of them days I was around 1200 calories. I'm retaining water big time . There is no way that I gained 6 pounds of fat in four days lol.
So I'm not even getting on the scales for the next few weeks I know I will be up about 5-10 pounds :o(
I would just keep doing what you are doing and it will all work out in the end :o) Sometimes our bodies just stop losing and play catch up .

I've found that when I stall, I need to increase my calories. Specifically... my fat intake. I'll add a snack of some cheese cubes and sliced avocado or a serving of raw cashews or just a spoonful of peanut butter. You didn't say one way or the other but if you have found a particular daily food routine that works for you and you tend to stick pretty closely to it every day, your body may have become complacent with that and figured out exactly how hard it needs to work to maintain its current weight with what you are feeding it.
Everyone is different but adding that higher fat snack works like a charm for me when I hit a stall. Cheese and avocado or apples with peanut butter are my favorites. Good, natural foods that are higher in good fats.

I don't know for sure, but I've had a couple personal trainers and worked with some folks in the fitness field. They all suggest busting a stall with fat. One person told me she has a couple slices of pizza so her "metabolism stays confused". I'm not sure pizza is on the menu for bandsters (I"m still on pureed anyway). But the previous poster, Painting chef" suggested some good ones (cashews, cheese, avocado, apples with PB).
Some fitness experts suggest only weighing yourself once a month.
Good luck!!

Hi -- welcome to stallville. It's no fun huh?
I've been through several stalls and for me it is the protein every single time. My surgeon and his team recommend that I get between 60 -80 grams per day. I usually fall on the lower end of that range and then I'll kind of slack off at get into the 50's for weeks and that's when I stall. I recently dropped to under the magical 199 barrier after being stalled for months -- it was the protein. I upped it to 80-90 for a couple of weeks and that made all the difference. Funny huh? You would think knowing that I would find a way to eat that much protein every day to keep the lose going good. Not : (

41 pounds in 3 1/2 months is awesome! Stalls can be frustrating though. Do you have restriction? Have you ever had restriction???
Here's a YT about stalls:

Thank you so much everyone. I truly do apprecitate everyones suggestions. You guys are right stalls suck big monkey nuts!!! I honestly love this board and everyone on it. Everyone's suggestions are right on. I have been very low on protein so maybe that is whats going on. I will try to add a protein drink or 2 on my exercise days.
On a GREAT note, I was able to walk for a whole HOUR today!!! I'm so darn excited!!!! I feel great!!!!!
