I Skipped My Fill Because of Summer
VSG on 07/10/12
Saw surgeon yesterday. Says I am making good progress, even though I am losing very slowly. He asked me about getting another fill, and I said that since the band tends to tighten in the summer, I didn't want to be too tight and have to come back in for an unfill. So, I set my next appointment for late September.
He asked what I was eating, how many calories, etc. and about eating steak, chicken, bread, etc. All of which I can eat with ease, as long as I chew thoroughly and take small bites.
Then he said, I was a "good band patient" .
I took this as a high compliment, but tried not to let this go to my head, since I know this band can turn on me at any moment.
Has anyone else heard the phrase "good band patient" from their docs?
I thought it was a little strange but then, he sees so many people each day he must make comparisions...

Hi Mary... I heard this from my Surgeon at my last visit 4 weeks ago also. Even if he tells it to all of his patients I had not heard it before and it made me feel good. I do try my best to follow the plan and to take care of my band. One time since my surgery I had to have it emptied for two weeks and I carried on like I had lost my best friend. LOL I can honestly say that with all of the good and the bad that I still love my band and that I don't ever want to be without it. Wishing you continued success with your WL.
