Is the food cost after being banded expensive
I save a lot of money on food. Eating out is much cheaper. I order less and it lasts several meals. Fast foot is almost non-existent. I order the smallest item, no fries. At home I eat healthy, meat, but a lot less, vegetables, pasta or rice, but a lot less, and I snack on sugar free pudding. If I cook a chicken, it lasts the whole week. I drink less alcohol because of the calories. I make my own smoothies with milk and yogurt or pudding.
Now that varies greatly from person to person! Mine is considerably higher. I still do protein shakes and protein bars. Also I try to eat higher quality food. Healthier food can be expensive. I have eliminated most fast food.
However some things are cheaper. I go to the buffet and get a box to go by the pound and get mostly protein. I limit my portions most of the time now, so this ends up being economical for me.

I ordered a sample pack from Unjury to decide what flavors of protein powder I could hack, and bought the chicken soup. I used it for the first two weeks, after fills/unfills/, and after a stuck episode. Otherwise I don't use the shakes. My grocery bill is about the same. I buy protein bars at Sams for when I don't have time to eat a full meal or for an evening snac****asionally. I also get my greek yogurt there, which is a staple for me for breakfast. The fresh fruits and vegetables are more expensive but it took several months for me to be able to tolerate them. I use a lot of string cheese and non-fat refried beans, and often make them myself. Those were my staples when I was on mushies and I still use them, often. I also make big pots of chili with tons of beans and not much meat. There are many things you can do to keep expenses down.
