Coughing/stuck?

I haven't posted in forever... I've been doing okay with my band, but with my stupid slow metabolism (67/% of normal) my weight has only dropped 45lbs in a year.  Doc said that was good, but I was hoping for more.

Anyway, today was the first day I've had coughing after eating.  I had cold chicken and a salsa dip thingy (to make it more most).  I was able to drink without any issue, but the cough lasted from Lunch through dinner til about an hour ago.

I haven't experienced being stuck, or the PB, in the time I've had the band, so I'm not sure what the stuck feels like.  I haven't had a night time cough, and I don't feel like it's reflux.

Any ideas on how to make this better?  My sign for stopping eating is just that I feel full.  I searched posts and found a few old ones were folks said that they coughed when they were full/done, but this is a first for me.

Thanks!

Melissa I've never had the coughing but when full I get the runny nose.  I get a heavy feeling n my chest when I don't pay attention to the nose and it can sit for about and hour then it will come up.  It  took me over a year to have a stuck episode, probably got to secure.  Chicken definitely is not my friend.  Unless it is extremely moist, it will get stuck in me.  Oh, we all experience different feelings when stuck but once it happens you recognize it from then on and pray it doesn't happen often.
Take care,
Z

Chicken is always an issue for me, especially if I try to eat it cold.  I've not experienced coughing as a sign of being stuck, but if you feel a tightness just below your esophagus and feel like you need to cough to move it, then it's likely stuck food.  You might try a warm liquid that will sometimes dis-lodge stuck food for me.  I've also used papaya enzyme which they say will help breakdown food that's stuck.  I'm not sure it works but I think it may at least a bit.

If this is the first time you're experiencing a stuck episode, that's amazing!  Just chew well, and go slow next time you eat chicken.  If the cough persists, check with your surgeon just to be safe.

Best~

Where do you find papaya enzyme?  I get stuck a lot lately and need some advice.  It's miserable:(

This may or may not help, but you can get it at any drug store that sells vitamins.
If you're getting stuck a lot that's another issue.  If you are following good band rules, i.e., chewing well, eating slowly, not drinking with meals, etc. then you may be too tight.  A slight unfill will give great relief.

Stuc****asions should happen rarely...

I may go check that out.  I haven't been stuck or PB since my band a year ago May.  I play by the rules because I don't want either to happen!  So far so good, well until my coughing (which had a little check discomfort - I wouldn't call it pain) yesterday.  It resolved itself so something may not have been chewed fully.  I don't think I'll be eating cold chicken any time soon...

I'm not sure how long it's been since you've had a fill, but I started coughing about a month after my last fill and I was a tiny bit to tight.(I had a dry cough throughout the day)  I had a little taken out and the coughing stopped.

I had a fill in March.  Went back in June and we figured I was doing alright.

I start really drooling when I get stuck and then within 15 minutes I've swallowed enough spit to gag myself and I throw up and then there's Awe...instant relief.

I appreciate all the replies.  Thankfully the coughing (possibly stuck) issue resolved itself by this morning.  I've been fine all day, thankfully!  I was going to call the doc today if it didn't get resolved since this hasn't happened before... I think I'll just not have cold chicken any time soon...
