Tooting my own horn

Hello all of you wonderful people on OH!!  Today I am posting to toot my own horn.  I had my WLS on 11/09/09 and weighed a whopping 325 and knew that I could not continue on or I would soon be at 400.  I was thrilled when I made it to 300, then 250.  At 230 I told a support member that I didn't think that I could loose much more.  She told me to not say that and that I could go lower.  Well, I am here today to say that the 200s are behind me and that I  am closing in on my goal of 170 (wedding weight).  I now weigh less then when I graduated from High School 34 years ago.  I am now thinking of lowering my goal weight.  I am posting this to let newbies know that the band is great, but I have had to work with it hard and to put effort into it.  I log all of my food and I walk everyday.  I started out being able to only walk for 5 minutes and I easily do 5 miles.  Hang in there and don't ever give up.  Thank you for your time for reading my happy moment.

Good for you!  That is absolutely great and encouraging to read.  Keep up the good work and I am sure that you can keep on going.  170 is also where I would like to get.  If I can get lower it will just be icing on the cake.  Good luck to you and congrats!

My success is because I finally learned to not eat until I got full.  I eat my small portion of dense protein first then my veggies.  I walk away and soon the satisfied feeling kicks in.  I wait 30-45 minutes after I eat before I drink.  I always have a zero calorie beverage with me (water, tea, crystal light).  Not drinking sodas was a challenge at first, but I don't miss them.  I even got my entire family to kick the soda habit.  Mu husband has been my toughest obstical because he loves chips and ice cream and will keep them in the house.  As long as I don't see the bag I can avoid the temptation.  Because these are slidder foods for me I consider them deadly to me.  I sometimes give in, but very seldom.  I must chart my food everyday.  I know that most people in my support group don't, but it works for me.  I also have a friend that will walk at our local mall with me daily.  We know that it burns calories, but also help speed up our metabolism.  My number one obstical is that day that I have PMS when I feel as though I totally lose control and could do some damage at a pig out buffet bar.  I hate that day, but then I follow the rules the rest of the time.  Don't get me wrong, I have my own head food demons, but I keep fighting them and so far I am winning.  It I fall off the wagon I pick myself back up ASAP and get back with the plan.  I take it one day at a time and one meal at a time.  You can do it!  i hope that this has helped you some.  Just stay with OH for support and encouragement.

Thank you so much for the encouragemrnt and praise that I received from each and everyone of you today.  Words alone are not enough to express how good it feels.  We are all members of a special group fighting the same battle of obesity.  I feels so great to be able to come to this site and gain knowledge, find support, hear a kind word.  Let us all keep working hard to help others to also succeed.  Thanks again.
