Problems recently
Recently, I've been having more and more issues with tightness and vomiting since I've lost weight. Shouldn't I be "looser" and needing a tighter adjustment? Or could something else be wrong? I'm eating normally like I did before, nothing different. But every time I go out to dinner, I have to vomit at least 3 or 4 times at the restaurant. Also, I've noticed I've had more "slime".
What is wrong with me??? I'm almost to the point where I'm so frustrated when I try to eat that I dont want to eat, so I drink protein shakes, and then I just want to have the band unfilled. I can't keep getting sick like this!!!!
Hi Kelly,
If you're vomiting that often, there's a problem. It sounds like your band may have slipped. Or you could have adhesions that are causing your band to "reposition" itself, causing the problems you've described.
It seems like a lot of bodie**** the 2-3 year mark and start developing problems. Not everyone, but enough that it's noticable.
You really need a fluoroscopy Xray done to see if your band is in the correct position. When I had my band, I had the same situation... totally unable to eat solid foods. I lived on protein shakes and ice cream. It's all that would go down. It takes a toll. I suffered from severe anemia and malnutrition. Take care of yourself. There's no reason to suffer like this. You don't want to have to deal with a permanent problem.
Good luck. Feel better.

I have noticed that the more you throw up etc, the tighter the band gets, as the swelling and throat muscle spasms after vomiting means the band is forced by this action more snugly into the top of the stomach. Some vomiting is unavoidable with the band in the best of conditions no matter how good we are, maybe once or twice a month. Eventually, some fluid needs to be removed, and for some people who perhaps throw up more often, eventually there's no slack left and surgery is required to readjust things. Either way, it does sound like you need to get fluid removed, and certainly if fluid is leaking that should be fixed as well, not good. Ordinarily as you lose weight the band will get looser, but the unavoidable vomiting occasionally that goes with the band can and often does counteract this after the first six months.
