I had my surgery February 16, 2011.  I lost 10 lbs the first two weeks after surgery and since then I've lost 20 more.  I have really been watching what I eat and I exercise everyday.  I go to curves 3 or 4 times a week, I walk 30 minutes 7 days a week, plus I swim 5 days a week.  My weight is stuck..... I have 3ccs in my band and will go back to the doctor July 20th for another fill.  Any suggestions on how I could loose more weight??? Thanks

For the most part, it is a matter of having to eat less or move more or a combo of both.

The scale can get complicated by hormones, fluid retention, time of day, etc, but mostly if you take in fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight.

To do that, it may help you to track your food (honestly and completely)

Increase your intake of no-calorie fluid (water primarily) -- anything else, be sure you track the calories

Make sure you do not drink/eat at the same time

Increase your protein intake

Hi Carol, I feel your pain. I am going through the exact same thing myself. I am also doing what you are doing (exercise and following the eating plan) and my wieght has been the same for 3 months. I am going back to my doctor in a few weeks to get another fill, hopefully that will help. Good luck to you.

You're fine.  Doing a great job, just a little anxious to get it off.  Keep doing what you are and you will start losing again.  Remember, your body has to catch up with you now.  Concentrate on how good you feel instead of the scale!

Hi carol i know your frustration, most of us are guilty of wanting this procedure to help us lose the weight quickly, and for some people it does come off quick, but for some of us it just does not come of quickly right away. I was stuck at a 30 pound loss for the pass 6 to 7 months but i kep****ching my portions and exercising like crazy and in the last month and a half i dropped another 24lbs a total of 54 from my highest. Like Doreen said some time our body has to catch up with this new change, especially if you are like me and have been overweight for some time our body does not want to give up the fat LOL, we just have to keep up with this internal tug of war but you will do it especially with that workout schedule you have going on. You will definately see a difference shortly just keep coming here for support cuz we have all been there and we know ur struggle. Btw good job on the 30 pounds that you have lost already it seems to me that you are all set to kick ass with this band you go girl

I completely feel your pain! I am down 10-pounds and my surgery was two weeks ago, but my weight hasn't moved at all in the last 3-4 days. What a pain!

I did some research on this very subject and found that often the issue is too little protein and water intake. Fat (adipose tissue) breaks down through hydrolysis (literally broken down by water). I think that's my issue. You are exercising quite a bit! So you could also be replacing fat with lean muscle. In that case, you should check your measurements. You might be plateaued weight wise, but shrinking.

Up your protein intake but stay within calories and switch up the workouts. Your body gets used to the same old routine so you have to switch it up every 4-6 weeks.

I agree with the others- you are doing well. You don't say what your eating. You may want to cut down on fat and carbs. I swear by a high protien, lowfat, lowcarb diet.
