I think I have made my decision. between lapband and bypass. I have decided lapband because bypass is so very dangerous and once its there its THERE to stay no matter what. I believe I will be able to lose over 200 pounds with lapband. I weigh 368. If I stick to it and eat and eexercise right, I think I willl be able to still lose that much. Dont you?

Yes, you can do it.  It may take longer than the RNY (or other surgeries), but if you have the Desire, Determination and Dedication, your chances of achieving your goal are very good.

While I know that it is possible to lose 200+ pounds with the band, the ODDS of that happening are very low.

If I were you, I would attend some local WLS groups, and try to find some folks who were close to your starting BMI and question them about their choice of surgery, life after WLS, etc.

Do you have the option of VSG?  If not, can you appeal that decision?

I love my band, and it has been a good fit for me ---- but if I had it to do over again, I probably would have gone for the VSG instead of the band ---- typically faster and more consistent weight loss.
