It's possible.   It is work and dedication and determination, but doable.  Some say it's hard work.  I don't think so, but I like challenges.  :)

Do you have it within you to do some sort of extra moving of your body every day?  It can be as simple as walking or hanging out clothes instead of using the dryer..  parking far away from the store and taking the buggy all the way back to the store when finished and not using the oh-so-convenient corrals.

Can you make yourself weigh and measure your food every single meal at home?

While I was waiting for surgery, I started trying to behave like a bandster.  I didn't count calories, I didn't weigh & measure (though I probably should've).. but I did start taking smaller bites, chewing well.  I did start trying to drink 64oz of water or very low calorie (no more than 10 calories/16 oz) fluids.  I did start walking.. just a little bit.    I did all these things to test to see if I could make the behavioral changes.  And since I made the changes slowly, they weren't very hard for me.  At least I don't remember them being hard.. lol.

Short answer.. yes, you can lose 200 lbs.  I have.  It may take you longer than other surgeries to reach your goal.  It took me about 2 years to get 200 off... and I workout quite a bit now.

If you can do it, I can too! Right?

I didn't. Never have. Never will. For ME, it's too much of a P.I.T.A.

understood.   it's like the tiny plates and tiny utensils thing.  I don't do that.  I do use luncheon plates.. which are smaller than dinner plates, but larger than salad plates.

I refuse to eat with toddler utensils.  I want to be as "normal" .. whatever that is...as possible.

Hi:

There is some recent research which is very interesting in that it shows how certain WLS procedures work with different demographics. The links are below.

I have a band now and have about 70 more pounds to lose, and have no problems with the band other than my weight loss is really slow. In 6 months, I've only lost 18.5 lbs. This could be due to my age (over 60) or any number of other factors given my diet and exerices patterns.

I wish now that I had been more informed about WLS options. I may have chosen differently.
Best of luck!
Mary

I started at 320 and am now down to 220.  I am still losing and am moving and enjoying life so much more.  I have no doubt I can lose the rest of it over this next year!  So will you!  Take care.

Yes it is possible and probable with your dedication to follow the lap band rules.
Get a great bariatric nutritionist, follow the plan, increase your exercise and you will be well on your way. Seek medical attention before beginning any exercise program. You can and WILL reach your goals....
