the true mark of success imho  is today. One year is good, but personally 6 years is great, great, great. From yo-yo to the same size for 5 years. Talk about feeling in control of one previously totally out of control part of my life.  So also if you are 3 months out and losing, today is great too. I think a positive attitude gets you through the rough patches faster, and let's face it, there is a lot of great fattening food out there to deal with. Some days you stay on track, other days you don't, and some days you enjoy a great meal or pig out, and treat it as one meal or one day, not the end of the world.

I wouldn't call that being a slow loser.  Good grief.  It's not like you haven't lost any weight or say 5 pounds.

I think a lot of surgeons are used to going in and doing surgery, fixing the problem and then they are done with the patient.  But this is an entirely new area for them.  Just doing the surgery doesn't fix the problem, it's not all in their hands, it's up to the patient also.  The "bedside" manner might not be there.  They aren't used to being cheerleaders or nutritionist etc etc.... so getting support might have to have to come from another source.  Does the surgeon  has a support group?

If I were you, I would be proud of every pound you have lost.  Don't let him get you frustrated.  Come here for support and ask questions etc.  Offering support to others also helps.

Believe in yourself!  Celebrate getting healthier, the NSV's and not just the numbers on the scale.

I'm a slow loser!  I'm down about 39 pounds over 6.5 months, and 10 of that was in the first 2 weeks.  I keep reminding myself that getting it off the right way is better than taking it off quickly.

If my doc ever challenges me on my exercise, i will have my trainer write him a note about my time in the gym (10+ hours a week), or show him my logs from my polar HRM, which i use to track my workouts.

It sounds to me like you are doing great, don't let negativity from ANYONE keep you from continuing!

Sounds to me like your doctor has probably dones lots of RNY's and not that many bands.  Your weight loss is actually pretty good.  An RNY patient would most likely have lost lots more weight during that period and that's what he is probably used to seeing.
