Ok, so I am 6 days post-op, Band over Bypass, down 16.6lbs and I am soooooo looking forward to the pureed diet which starts on Day 10, Sunday, July 3rd.  After 2 wks of liquids (pre-op) and another week (post-op) I am ready for some SERIOUS FLAVOR! Since it has been almost 9yrs since I did this with the RNY, I need some recommendations...Send me your ideas.  I want flavors, spices, anything yummy.  I'm already looking forward hummus, baba ganoush, etc.  Last time, I was married to a Moroccan who cooked everything for me, now I need EASY, SIMPLE, FLAVORFUL!

Oh, BTW, I don't cook.  So, if you want me to cook, its got to be REALLY easy.  I live in NYC, so, I order out or go to whole foods, or trader joes, I dont really cook. My mom did by me a food processor last week.

Congrats on getting rid of another 16!

Purees were, for me, astoundingly easy. I made everything myself.

Grill, bake or broil any kind of protein you like. I'll use salmon as an example. Cool it enough to break into chunks. Place the chunks in a blender or food processor and add a small amount of broth (chicken is pretty versatile.) Now comes the fun part: what spices do you like? Add a few. Add a lot. Puree until about the consistency of applesauce. Taste it. Adjust as you like.

Do the exact same with veggies. Do the same with fruit but use juice or Crystal Light instead of the broth.

Bette, what does this end up tasting like? Patte? Hummus? Not taste but consistency I guess.

I don't know what to compare it to. I've never had pate, and I ate the meat and veggie purees HOT, so I can't compare them to hummus.

All I can tell you is that after 2 weeks of drinking my meals, it was HEAVEN having what was ALMOST "real food" again.

Pureed chili was my mainstay! Puree, freeze in ice cube trays and put in freezer bags. One cube= 1/4 cup. Pop em in microwave, top with sour cream and shredded cheese. If you don't cook I have seen on here people pureeing Wendy's chili. My best to you

Looking for ideas too! I am so tired of scrambled eggs, mashed pot with non flavored protein powder, and cottage cheese. That is what I have been eating for the past several days. I have 2 1/2 more weeks of puree. I think I am going to do chili tonight.

I cannot wait to eat eggs again. I've been eating egg beaters everyday since my RNY in august of 2002. Bring on the eggs!
