TMI Maybe...BM Issue

I have had my band now about 10 months. I've noticed some constipation here and there but today I noticed when I had a BM there was alot of blood. I'm worried because I dont know if this could be something wrong with my band, or maybe just from the occasional constipation...and I dont want to go to the dr and have them look there if it's just an occasional thing.
I also started a new medicine for rheumatiod arthritis about a month ago but I looked on the side effects and it does not say anything about bowel issues.
Has anyone had this issue or know anything that I should do? TIA.

Red blood or dark brown/black blood? Dark colors can indicate a problem "further up", while red blood could be something as simple a hemorrhoids. Call your primary care doc to get in for a look-see.

In the meantime, try something like Miralax to get things moving along. It's a powder (and every major store has a store brand of it) that dissolves completely in any liquid, hot or cold, and is totally flavorless. It won't act like what I call "rectal rocket fuel" - the laxatives that cause your BMs to come shooting out of you.

Well, as embarrassing as it might be, get in to see your doc just in case. Up your fiber intake, and be careful when wiping because that may exacerbate the situation. Try using some "wet wipes"; they may help.

I'm no doctor but it sounds like you may have a hemoroid. I have that issue to and get them from time to time. You need to find ways to get your fiber intake up or take a mild laxative and it will help. I take senna which is a natural vegatable laxative. It helps me alot.

arthritis medications can cause bleeding, call your doc, the one who supplied the med. if it is hemmorhoids, an over the counter stool softener could help.

hemorrhoids or an anal fissure.

I like flax seeds as a way to increase fiber in my diet, but for a more immediate cure, the Miralax that Bette suggests is a good idea.
