Which is better for post-op recovery...a husband or a dog?

Which is better post-op a husband or a dog?  Let me tell you back in 2002 when I had the RNY, I had a husband to help me get through it off.  I've since divorced him and now I have 2 dogs.  What better compliment to the lap band than a dog or 2.  They make you walk them every 4-5 hours and viola, you get all the walking in you need. Dashy, my 80lb Boxer, made me walk his ass 30 some nyc blocks this more, 1.5 mi.  Nothing like a good sweat before 8am.

Two weeks after my surgery I picked up my German Shepherd puppy. :) He's been an amazing addition to my weightloss and exercise.

Just be careful with the dogs.  I have  a really ugly port scar thanks to one of my 2 Schnauzers, Fritz.  He jumped up on the bed and planted a paw right in the center of my healing incision.  He kind of caused it to pull apart a bit and now it's a really wide scar.  I recommend a pillow in your lap at all times when sitting or lying down.

I wish we never fenced our back yard so I would have to take the dogs walking every day. Now we just push them out the back door!

My first thought was..Can your dog drive you back from the hospital??

Since you live in NYC that is not an issue, so my next thought is....Can he bring you an heating pad?
I love having a good husband, and I loved having a good dog.
They are both hard to train, I would keep the good one...

Haha.  Unconditional love from ther dog.  LOL.  My ex-husband was with me for the RNY and the Lower Body Lift. I'll never forget him for that but, Im glad he isnt here this time.  But, the recovery from this is NOTHING compared to the RNY.

Spouse is always good to have ( I am a guy so no husband in equation, but wifey, yes)

Plus based on my avatar, a dog is a real close second...

My two cents? I love my dogs (I had 2 at the time of my surgery, now 4) and they are a great comfort. But they are notoriously crappy cooks.

Bette, but at 5 days post-op they dont need to cook. All I need to do is take the cap off the protein shake.  LOL!

Happily married 30 years, but I would go for the dogs as well. Unconditional love always. Wishing you a speedy recovery and great weight loss success.
