Just Want to Talk to a Surgeon

This may be an obvious or a dumb question, but have you gone to the initial seminar by this surgeon?

That's where I found many of the answers that you are asking, and learned if I was comfortable with the various individuals and required procedures for the particular site.

I had the 3 surgeon's I was considering lined up by seminar dates.  Went to the first one and stopped there.  Did some research on him and his aftercare, and was very happy.  Knew for sure when I met him and asked my burning questions.  So far very happy with my choice.  And one of the 3 has lost hospital privileges.  His patients have to go to another city for surgery.  Sooo glad I didn't choose him! 

I agree, you are in control of this situation.  I initially met with my surgeon so he could introduce himself to me and explain what the procedure would be like. I have to feel a sense of comfort, before i put my life into his/her hands.
