The Sleeve is invasive. They remove a part of your stomach!

If you are one of the many unfortunate to have a complication with the Band the VSG is way less invasive in the long run.

My stomach found the Lap-band to be quite "invasive".

I've had both surgeries and let me just say the sleeve wins hands down.

My band was quite invasive and required a secondary surgery after 3 years.

I too have had both procedures, my first operation was the gastric bypass in 1992, I lost over 100 lbs and it came off easily. Back then things were WAY different then they are now, mine was an open procedure I was given very little to no information compared to what info we have today. Fast forward 19 years and I regained all my wieght back plus more and went on a journey to find another surgical solution, the only thing I could do was get a band over bypass (i am a self-payer) insurance would not cover a revision. I got my band in Jan. of this year and so far have not been super successful in loosing the weight. I am older now, have some medical issues, like PCOS and basically the wieght is at a stand still even though I am following the rules. You do need to pray about what is right for you, ask you doctor and do your reseach, be aware that you are very likely to regain the weight with the bypass but I guess you take that chance with any of the procedures you choose, based on what I have read the sleeve seems to be a pretty good option. I am not band bashing, I am grateful for the second chance I have but for me it has been a STUGGLE to loose with the band. Be encouraged that there are many people that have done well with each procedure and some who have had problems, so ask your doctor and pray for which ones right for you...  Good luck to you...

The Band Bad, The RNY Bad, The Sleeve Bad etc etc etc. Look , for each surgery there is one person who says its awesome and the next will say its horrible. Don't listen to anyone on a message board who is just speaking from they're personal experience. I am a revision to Lap so its easy for me to ***** about my original surgery but I won't! Why? Because its not fair to you and its my experience not yours.  My suggestion would be to read, read, research, look at the facts, discuss with your doctor and make a measured decision your comfortable with.

Good Luck!
