One day I'm tight, the next day I'm loose
Hi Maria... Thank you for your time to reply. Other than having to take it one day at a time depending on my band I have done very well. To date I am down 125 pounds with 30 to go to reach my goal ans then I may lower it again. I had one problem 9 months ago wher I had lots of reflux and the fluroscope showed that my esophagus was dilated and I had a bulge hanging below my pouch. After removing all of the fluid for two weeks everything has been back to normal except for my psyco band going from tight to loose. I guess though that I can learn to deal with that since I myself have my own share of psyco days. LOL
Hello Amy... I completly understand what you are going through because I have the exact same situation. I have learned the hard way that stress will cause my band to be tighter. I live in the hot humid south and have heard that the heat will also cause it to tighten, but did not know until Steph mentioned in her post above that the humidity will also cause it to tighten. I have heard other posters refer to their band as a psycho band and I totally agree. My band has a mind of it's own. Even though one day can be different from the day before I wouldn't want to ever be without my band. I encourage you to do like the rest of us and hang in there and take it one day and one meal at a time. Best of luck in your WL journey.
My band's name is FLF, for "Finicky Little F*cker." I have gone through what you go through almost since I GOT the band. Usually, I am tighter in the morning than any other time of the day.I am always tight when on an airplane mid-air (but not pre-flight or after landing.)
As far as I could see, there was never any rhyme or reason to why it was more or less tight. Just life with the band, I guess . . .

I think I saw an example of what happens to the band in flight.
I had a closed bag of chips with me on the plane. I picked it up to open it and that thing was puffed out and ready to burst. When I go on the plane it was just a normal looking bag of chips, but it turned into a chips balloon somewhere over Kansas.

If the bag of chips had remained unopened during flight or even driving over the mountains, it would actually compress like all the air had been removed....but our bands have fluid in them and very little residual "air", so my PA and doc say this isn't an issue. To be honest, I haven't had any problems immediately following a change in altitude or flying and I travel a lot. Just thought I'd throw my .02 in Phyllis....![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/peace.gif)

Flying did seem to effect my band, but just about everything else did too. I despise protein drinks, but I would force myself to drink one right before boarding a plane, because I knew it would take a while for my band to allow me to eat afterward.

I've heard that from a lot of people with the band, I guess I am just lucky it doesn't seem to affect me. I am extra cautious when travelling anyway, just because of climate change (which does affect me) and altitude (just about anywhere I go requires going over passes of 4000') to be safe. I start my meals for the first day or two with hot soup or a cup of tea. My band is more sensitive once I have been at the destination for a week or so...this weekend was a perfect example. We were at the coast, Saturday for my nephew's birthday and my hubby cooked burgers and Italian sausage...couldn't eat either one. 2 bites and I was stuck, but good. Papaya didn't help, so I just waited until we got home and had a bit of soup before bed. Still sensitive last night and I couldn't eat chicken (leg). Today, I am taking it very easy. On Saturday, I ate cheese, black bean dip and some great whole grain chips in the afternoon and it went down fine...but not meat.
