This post has some great information in it and explains a lot about why there is so much variation in the way we each respond to WLS.  It certainly pokes holes in the premise that we are each entirely responsible for our own outcome.

Great article with lots of helpful info.

I always believed there was a healthy mix of both. Sometimes it IS the patient and sometimes it IS the surgery. I'll gladly admit that when I have trouble with the band - with the exception of the hiatal hernia - the trouble is brought on by me. I need a fill, I need less fill, I need to eat better, I need to eat less, etc.

I am so glad that they are finally connecting the dots.  Hopefuly more reasearch will lead to better safer long term WLS.

I think it brings some valuable insight to help those who aren't having the results they expect from their surgery, even if they are in "compliance".
