I had problems with heartburn and it turned out that my band was too tight. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but it seemed like everything that I ate or drank caused pain. My doctor finally orderd an upper GI and found out (immediately) that my band was too tight. They took out a little fluid and I feel awesome! It may be something totally different, but I would start by really paining attention to what you eat, make sure you are following the band rules about eating, and check in with your doctor. That'll make you feel better. Hope this helps!

I have had it twice once when my band was too tight, it took a .2cc unfill  to improve and the last time I had it was when I had a complete un fill 3 weeks ago I stayed on an acid blocker 2x a day for two weeks it helped I dont have it any more. call you doc and see if you need a slight un fill or acid blocker or both no need to suffer. hope you get relief soon

You've had your band a long time, it could be many things, you could be too tight, or have band slippage, or too loose, sometimes when you've had the band a long time and you don't have enough restriction stomach acids can rise up and cause burning even on water. Also, sometimes if you have been too tight for long periods of time, this can cause gastritis or ulcers that can inflame your stomach/pouch.

You need to see your surgeon to have them check your band and if the heartburn continues...in the meantime you may want to evaluate what you are eating, chocolate, onions, spicy foods, milk, tomatoes are very bad for lap banders if we don't use medication like pervacid, or pepcid.

Also any restrictive surgery can cause heartburn,....be grateful that you can get your band adjusted...

IT is good to seek medical attention and make sue that there is nothing going on with the band if you have heart burn.  I was one of the wierd ones that had heart burn even if I had no fill in the band.  Make sure you don't drink at night and try to eat 2-3 hours before laying down.

Wow, you are a long term bandster!  Heartburn is not normal with or without a band, so I think you need to see your doctor to find out what is going on.  Pre-banding, I had heartburn just drinking water unless I took 80 mg omaprazole daily.  Post-band, I take 40mg a couple of times per week if I have mild heartburn.  I had a large hiatal hernia that was repaired at the time of my banding and it has helped a lot.  Damage to your esophogas is being done when you have severe reflux, so please get it checked out asap..
Good luck and congrats on your amazing weight loss!
