i need help...Lapband for the 2nd time
I had to have my lapband redone due to the band slipping. I had it done in May and have had two fills 1.5 each time. I feel absoutely no restriction plus when I eat anything fried there is no reaction to me. The first time I could not even stomach fried foods. This is completely different from the first time - they are telling me it may take a few more fills but i am really worried. I had lost 70 lbs and have gained quite alot of it back.
Please help me.
First off, if you are having problems, you need to call your bariatric surgeon for advice and help. Many doctors do not use the word "restriction" because it gives the impression that your band will stop you from eating, which it will not. Measuring your food, eating the right kinds of foods and following your doctor's instructions is what you need to be doing right now.
Not all doctors make you wait 6 weeks for a fill or to start solid foods...I was on solids at 2 weeks post-op, following a strict food plan and have had no problems. I had my first fill at 3 months and my second fill at 10 months for a total of 3.5 cc. I know of many who had their first fill within 2-3 weeks of surgery and they have not "caused their band to slip". Follow your doc's and nutritionist's advice and you should be fine.
Also, remember that your anatomy has changed since your first surgery. Your experience could be completely different this time.
Hang in there!

Hope you get to restriction soon, sorry for all you went through. That is great your excersising! The more the better. In terms of what you eat, I would focus on eating the right foods (lowcarb/lowfat/high protein. Lots of lean meat and veggies. I usually eat eggs for breakfast, 1 whole egg and 2 whites. I snack on lowfat cheese sticks and 1/4c nuts. Your portions may be larger than they will be once you have restriction, but it's a start. Good luck!
