i need help...Lapband for the 2nd time
I had to have my lapband redone due to the band slipping. I had it done in May and have had two fills 1.5 each time. I feel absoutely no restriction plus when I eat anything fried there is no reaction to me. The first time I could not even stomach fried foods. This is completely different from the first time - they are telling me it may take a few more fills but i am really worried. I had lost 70 lbs and have gained quite alot of it back.
Please help me.

You had your band redone in May and you can eat all foods already and have two fills already? That all seems so fast to me. I just had my surgery so I am no expert but I can't have a fill for at least 6 weeks because I need to heal. You probably will need more fills to reach restriction but rushing fills could cause another slip. Take it slow. Good luck.
On the second lapband revision I did not have to do the diet before the lapband was done. Afterwards I was on liquids for 1-2 weeks then started adding additional foods slowly. The reason I even tried fried foods was to just see if there would be a definite restriction.
I don't want to rush anything but definitely need to feel some restriction. Thanks for your response.

The first question that comes to mind is: which type of band did you ahve each time? There is more than 1 kind and that can make a different in when and how you experience restriction.
Banded 03/22/06 276/261/184 (highest/surgery/lowest)
Sleeved 07/11/2013 228/165 (surgery/current) (111lbs lost)
Mom to two of the cutest boys on earth.
Sorry that you are struggling.
I had surgery a year ago this past March to reposition my slipped band. My surgeon deliberately went very slow with my fills to make sure I healed properly and hopefully won't have another slip.
It took me 8 months and 5 fills to get to a good restriction. During this time, I wasn't the best little bandster and regained, also. I haven't gained any weight at all since getting to good restriction, but losing is VERY slow this time around. I have started working out quite a bit, which is at least helping me to lose inches.
My original surgeon placed my band incorrectly, so with a band placed the CORRECT way, I did notice a difference in restriction and the kind of foods that I can eat. You just can't give up and have to remember that the band is merely a tool, not a magic wand!

most fried foods as "slider" foods so they go down easily. best advice... STAY AWAY from them. I may sound harsh but fried foods are the enemy.... they don't help with weight loss at all... they clog arteries and so on and so on. You are starting all over again... retrain your brain into thinking more healthy foods. Limit yourself to 1/2 or 4 ounces per meal. Snacks should be limited to 2 ounces or 1/8th of a cup. Does your surgeon work with a nutritionist? Maybe you should see your nutritionist. Strong aftercare programs are what lead to success with any weight loss surgery... and your WILLPOWER.
Good luck to you...

all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence. I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!

If you are on your second band, all rules still apply, you must wait to get filled 4-6 weeks apart before you start feeling good restriction, also it could be the reason why your first band slipped you may have gotten filled too aggressively, you MUST wait and get your fills gradually to ensure your band heals properly.
Also in the meantime while waiting on good restriction make sure you are DOING YOUR PART, by exercising, following the band rules not drinking the same time you eat, and not eating slider foods, lean baked chicken/meats, colder water, and veggies will give you the restriction you need, fried foods are not recommended because they will slide right down a too tight band anyway.
