Thank you so much.  Everything you guys had to say made me feel a little bit better.  I think you are right I am just not going to tell anyone except my husband and a couple family members.  I will just have to come on here a little more to find the extra support.  But, I can see it know when I close my eyes one soon to be HOT MAMA.

If you need me to slap the stupid out of someone, let me know. I've always heard that S.D. is lovely this time of year.Or, any time of year.

It never fails to amaze me how incredibly rude people can be...

I am very open about my surgery and while some people probably say some of these things behind my back, I have been lucky that I haven't had to deal with any such comments (to my face at least).

Anyway, the other posters already gave some great advice, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you are having to deal with that.

I was planning on keeping my WLS to just myself and immediate family, but before asking me, DH goes and tells everyone at his work why he's taking time off (to help me after surgery).  Gee thanks!!  Since he works at a rumor mill...  there's probably not a person in town that doesn't know I had WLS.

I've never gotten the "easy way out" comment, but I think that's because most of the time people see me in the gym working my butt off!!  I think I might have been part of the reason another person at our gym got banded..they saw my success.  Since DH was so kind to share my secret w/o my permission, I operate on the "need to know" basis.  If it's obvious that the person asking me how I'm losing is having issues too.. I will share that I have a little extra help.. my band.  But I stress that most of the work is on my part.

I did find out recently that someone thought I had RNY instead of lapband.. because I've lost so much weight and so fast.

We all know our share of judgemental people!  I had surgery on 12-28-10 and only told my husband  and my children.  I had to tell one of my sisters because I needed a ride home from the hospital.  It has been 6 months and mum is still the word.  It's one of those secrets I can live without telling!!!

Or you could educate them.  You could tell them that only 2-3 percent of morbidly obese people are able to take off the weight and keep it off.  That's a 97% failure rate.  Tell them that you don't want to bet your life on such risky odds.  Would they?

Why are you telling everyone?  When it gets right down to it, you live with you.  You do what you want and need to do.
