Great ARTICLE CAUSES of BAND Slippages and PROS and CONS to each Surgery
Yes thanks for the info,,, hope it gets better as everyone learns. I did read an article on procedure and the loop they take has changed and helped alot. I also hear letting your body heal is crucial- for band placement to stay. again, following instructions is #1. Personally i think I would be scared to death of this slippage not to follow the rules, I have had some throwing up incidents the past year with out a band,, and it was harder than having a baby. so, being very nice to my volcano will be the easier. thanks it is good to be informed.

Yes...that is true Melly , I am sorry this happened to you, hopefully your second band gives you all the success complication free your first band did not.
Great article, thanks.. I'm still trying to keep my portions in check and not "pu****" by using my band as a stopping device. I know it works when you have to lean on it sometimes, but as a regular practice is dangerous. Educating myself with articles like this help me fight the head hunger attacks.
What is that prayer again, "God grant me the serenity"..
I also started using papaya enzyme to help me with stuck episodes. I know it breaks down proteins quickly. Can it be harmful to your pouch or stomach lining? Do you know?

Regarding Paypaya enzymes so far so good, in fact, I've never had any stomach pains or nausea in years...so apparently they are doing something and they have kept me complication free going on 6 years...when I eat too close to bedtime they breakdown food immediately to let me sleep in peace.
Just want to point out that this is not an "article" but is a part of a doctor's website and is basically the doctor's opinion about a study.
The link won't take you to the page that is copied and pasted here, so here is the correct link, arturorodriguezmd.com/lap-band-slippage-causes-and-preventio n
Further, beware, this is just another one of Naomi's attempts to hold all gastric banding patients to blame for their complications.
I don't want to cause a ruckus, but will not allow her lies, misperceptions, misrepresentations and misinformation to be taken seriously by anyone who doesn't know her posting history or her multiple identities on this site.
I'm still waiting for you Naomi, to reply to my request for a link to support the lie you posted about me on your "considering a revision" thread...like I said, post the link or retract your statement.

The above link is the original study in GERMAN
Steph,
If you've ever been to a College and University you should KNOW how to perform research...if you don't know how to decipher and understand and read cited researched material and sources you NEED TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT. This study IS VALID and has been peer reviewed.
The original study IS IN GERMAN... that particular weight loss surgeon was writing about the study that had been conducted and just gave a follow up on the study and his perspective based on HIS 10 YEAR EXPERIENCE with the band and other bariatric procedures.
...If you hate your band and progress that much please keep you ill feelings to yourself.... why don't you start posting and on the Sleeve board since you apparently do not like your band...PLEASE KEEP this environment positive, there are those of us that follow rules and would like to keep our bands forever. Some people appreciate being educated on the band, if you don't please don't respond to my post anymore..I may just block you along with the other idiots, if you keep sending me these condescending post.

I didn't see this link anywhere in your post

but here is your source listed at the end of the post

As far as being negative, I am not being negative. I am not having band issues and am not dissatisfied with my progress and I am not revising. You keep saying that, but I have asked you for the link to a post where I stated that I was unhappy, considering a revision and not progressing...you refuse to acknowledge my request or retract your statement. I simply want you to acknowledge that you "mis-spoke" and I want anyone *****ads your posts to look at your posting history and see that you very often blame bandsters who have complications, for their "failure". I am so over your condesceding attitude and passive agressive responses. Go ahead and block me, I honestly don't care.

Steph, I have a life and a very fulfilling one at that....I don't have time to sift through pages to find that posts where you rambled about your REGRET for the band and how you wished you had gotten the Sleeve.....
I mean REALLY...if I was not satisfied with my band I would try something else like the Sleeve...there is no shame in my game, I would not come here and send snide remarks to people who are happy with their decisions....
I am VERY HAPPY that I have choices...if I would have gotten the Sleeve or RNY initially my choices would be very slim right now...I strongly believe surgeons are improving weight loss surgery techniques and in the next few years they will have something a LOT BETTER than the Sleeve, DS or RNY...so right now I would rather hold on to my band since it's safer and god-forbid something happens in the future...I can revise over to a new and safer wls that is better than the Sleeve, RNY or the DS.
