I am 29 and I weigh 368 lbs. I recently found that I have sleep apnea and I have had acid reful for a long time. I am on medicaid for a disability. Do you think medicaid will cover it and I will be able to get this? The only way is if it covers the surgery. I am scared, excited, worried, happy, nervous.... what do you think will happen?

I don't know the answer to your question - I believe Medicaid covers WLS depending on the cir****tances, but you'll get more replies if you re-title this post something like: Does Medicaid Cover WLS?

All you can do is try. I hope you are successful. They may deny you at first, but I would follow through and go through whatever appeal process there is. My BCBS denied me, and I was self pay. I wish I had fought them on it, oh well, I lost the weight so it's all good. Good luck!

Do you also have medicare for your disability? That is an option. I have known medicad to pay for wls, based on quite a few variables. It might take a while to jump through hoops to get approval, but as Jean said, do whatever it takes. You might be limited as to what type of surgery you can have, may be required to go through months of supervised weight loss, etc. Just do it. Good luck to you.
