I need all the help and support I can get!
Revision on 08/21/12
Hi Brock, I have to tell you that the first step in getting back on track is to do what you just did; admit the problem and ask for help. Knowing you can't do it alone is a big one. The next thing you need to do is to forgive yourself for being human. No one among us is immune and recognizing that is important. You need to start taking it easy on yourself, a bit, because it is obvious you have done some self flagellating. To continue will only lead to self pity and a need to eat the crap to feel better.
Next just start logging everything. Don't worry about totals, just write it down or log on-line. Then start with baby steps. Remove the worst offender/temptation from the house. Start taking 5 minute walks. For myself, if I try to get perfect all at once I am setting myself up to fail, once again.
As for that psych, call your surgeons office for a recommendation. If they have a behaviorist that would be a good contact too. Set up an appointment with your surgeon, nut, behaviorist, etc. They are there to help you, not beat you up. If you are getting too hungry and it is not all because of the types of things you are eating then you need a fill. Even a tiny one. If you do it well before a weekend, then if it is too much you can get it taken out. You may have to concentrate on good eating hygiene for a bit, too.
Get rid of the damn soda! Now! Easier said than done, but even my hubbie who is a soda addict has finally gone to diet, then to water.
As Lisa said, if you cannot overcome then a revision should be an option. Just keep in mind that you can eat around any of them except DS and some have even managed that. Soda and sweets can't be corrected by any wls.
Good luck to you, check in here daily to report if you need to or ask someone to be your accountability partner, other than your wife.

Why not try cutting out one thing at a time. You know you can succeed because you did it before, and you know what you need to change, but I know it can be hard to change everything at once! I would say start with the soda. As hard as it might be, you gotta go cold turkey on it. I think soda can be almost as strong of an addiction as smoking.

Brock- Are you the guy in Southwest MN? If you are- I remember ;you from before. I live in the Twin Cities but used to live in Pipestone.
No matter who you are, one thing I noticed is you have had some pretty significant life changes in a short period of time. I agree with the counseling part. Contact me and I know of someone in SW MN who might be good for you. Also, when I started going through what you are now- I read Jean McMillian's book "Bandwagon" and found it really helpful. So is her newsletter online.
Come here as often as you need as well. K

There are alot of us here for you Brock but you know all we can do is support you but you have to do the hard work and get rid of the garbage food and drinks and be concious of good eating habits. I agree that counseling is a great idea and even a possible revision. Myself I've only lost 20 lbs with the band so I truely understand the frustration. I can't revise because of insurance limits and financial limits so here I stay fat and pretty happy in spite of it. There are a LOT of bandsters that have had to revise because the band just doesn't work for everyone but you have to address the mental part first. Ninety percent of the battle is mental I think. So use that new little baby as incentive to make the change once and for all. Not only do you want to be able to play with and enjoy baby but you want to be a good example to them and their eating habits. Best of luck to you!
