And only one pound more pound lost. As my old WW leader would say "Do you want it back?" Of course the answer is NO! Just wi**** would go faster....

It's better than my previous weight loss pattern, post-op, which was one pound a month!
No wonder I was gaining like mad before the band!

I'm thinking of discussing RNY with my surgeon, because this is just not right, or is it?
Yes, I am working ou****er aerobics, gardening, walking at lunch. And writing down everything I eat....

Never expected it to be so slow....

Anyone else feel the same?

Wait, wait, wait. You had surgery TWO WEEKS ago and you're all ready to discuss another procedure with your doctor? STOP THAT NOW!

Keep telling yourself this: I DID NOT GET OBESE OVERNIGHT AND I WILL NOT RETURN TO A NORMAL WEIGHT OVERNIGHT.

Let me warn you: when you hit a plateau on lose one pound in a whole month, your head may explode.

Relax, take a deep breath (or ten, whatever it takes) and calm down.

No, no... I've been on 1000 calories for two weeks. My surgery was over six months ago. But thanks for the words of support...

Mary,

Sometimes eating not enough calories will make you not lose weight either.  have you tried playing with your calories ?

I cant lose if I go below 1000 a day.   I have to keep mine between 1100 to 1400 a day and on Wednesday I go as high as 1500 since I do two Zumba classes in that day.

I know you are walking and gardening but that might not be good enough workout .  Not to be mean but I dont think gardening probably burns alot of calories .

Have you tried to do cardio ?  Sometimes you just need to sweat and work it .  I dont lose no weight if I just do walking or working in my flower garden .  I have to do cardio to make me sweat and work my body .

I do a hr of Zumba on Monday's   Curves with Zumba on Tuesday and Thursday.  Wednesday I do Zumba in the morning for a hr and then I do a advanced Zumba class with weights on Wednesday night for a hour.

It dont matter how little I eat,  how good I eat for the week , if I dont do any cardio for the week then I wont lose weight at all.

Also the lap band is the slowest weight loss out there and I think the hardest of all the WLS out there imo.

Are you tracking everything and I mean everything that goes into your mouth ? I track everything from lettuce to ketchup or mustard .

Just because the doc tells you to eat so many calories or WW leaders dont mean its right. You need to find out what is best for you .  My doc dont like anything above 1100 but I dont listen to him because he dont know my body and he dont live in my body to know what I need.

PS I can go a week to six weeks of not losing anything by the scale to. Are you taking measurements

Well, some gardening burns calories, like digging large holes, and weeding, but I agree, cardio is the way to go....
Thanks for your words, though.

Maybe you aren't eating enough calories.  My PA/DR said about 1500 calories a day.  I don't know how to get that in, so my usual calories are around 1000-1200 a day.  I recently started walking (running a couple of minutes) of the time I am out, so I think I should try to get closer to 1200 on those days.  I lose faster, if I eat a little more.  BUT it has to be low carb.  I can NOT do higher carb foods.  Cheese or a couple of nuts or greek yogurt or sometimes I even have a protein shake.

I hope you find your happy spot and good luck to you...I know it can be incredibly frustrating, but keep chuggin a long....Did you try talking to your surgeon about a fill or anything?

Best of luck to you and try to keep your head up buddy!!!

Well, I actually gain weight on 1500 cals, because that is what I tracked my eating at pre-op. And I was on 1200 at the first nutrition appointment and stayed there for several weeks, with very slow results. That's why she put me on 1000 cals, but low carbs and high protein. I did weigh myself this morning and it seems my whining was premature.. I did lose a pound and a half, finally!!

Oh, and the surgeon says no more fills.... That was a wake up call bc I've only had two and only one was a full dose, the second fill was only a half a dose....

Thanks for the support.

I agree with the previous posters and bump the calories up a bit to 1200 - 1400 calories.  Eating to few calories may put your body into starvation mode, so your body is clinging onto everything it can.

I would also change the workout around.  Our bodies get used to a routine.  We have to keep it guessing.  How about some weights?

If you do that, and are truly following all the rules, the weight will come off.  As Bette said, the weight didn't come on overnight.  It takes time for it to come off.

Good luck!

I agree with adding weights. Actually the water aerobics has a whole seciton of resistance training with each class. I was actually considering hiring a trainer to help with the weight training thing. Good suggestion!!
Thanks!!!

You have gotten some good advice. I second the notions of low carb and excersise. Your heart rate should go up and you should break a sweat. If those things aren't happening, you are not working hard enough to reap the benefits. You can do it! Keep us posted on how your doing. Best wishes.
