Band Slip - And my future is...
I went in last week and found out that I had a band slip
(see my previous post if you want more more info: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/lapband/4399340/Need-an-Unfill-Im-clueless-Am-I-dying-HELP/) In short, the doc took all the fluid out, be on full liquids, and I’m to come back in 2 weeks (but it’s really 3). As agonizing as it is, I’m dealing. The doc seems pretty confident that when I come back my band should be back in place and I’ll be able to get an adjustment. Of course I’m nervous. Those of you who’ve had a band slip and had the fluid removed, did the band move back into place? What were your results?

Lapbanddiva...at least you are you are HONEST and I respect you for that, you came here for help and was honest about how long your band had been too tight, instead of lying like so many band bashers...
All that said, it's a 50/50 shot you may be saved, you were too tight a LONG TIME...but I am hoping your band can be saved and you did not suffer permanent band damage which is not pretty; sometimes it TAKES MONTHS for your band to function properly, my advice is follow your instructions to a T, stay on liquids to allow your pouch to shrink back down and when you start getting fills again GO SLOWLY no more than 6 to 8 weeks apart the LONGER THE BETTER, I know you may not be able to stand it but it's better to let your band HEAL COMPLETELY than trying to piece meal it or risk losing your band altogether..IT IS RECOMMENDED YOU STAY UNFILLED AT LEAST 6 WEEKS....IT'S BETTER TO HEAL than try to beg your surgeon to fill you any earlier than 6 weeks. And if you are burning or having reflux you may want to ask your surgeon to prescribe you Protonix during your healing process.
I am wishing you the best and hope you save your band!

Thank you for that.I do have my regrets about being too tight for so long. For the longest time I was able to stand it because I was losing weight so rapidly and pleased with the results.
I appreciate you telling me about the 50-50 shot. The nurse practitioner said 9/10x it goes back to where it was. I thought that was kind of odd. She made it seem like no big deal, yet I've read differently on the forum.
I will try not to get worked up and will pray for the best. The liquids are never fun but I plan on following doc's orders.

I had a band slip, and a complete unfill and 6-week rest period cured it. I felt instant relief after the unfill and a follow-up upper GI study showed that everything was OK.
Good luck!

Good luck!
