What are "slider"foods??

Today while i was at my appt i met with a nurse practioner and she was saying something about "slider" foods and possibly gaining weight back by cheating that way. I was just wondering does this really happen??

I believe slider foods are foods that can leave the stomach quickly allowing you to eat more than you should.  I know that you can flush food out of the stomach by drinking before or after a meal. I keep saying to people that I did not go through surgery so I can cheat myself.  I want to be successful and lose weight so I can be healty and live longer.

Yes you can gain weight back just eating slider foods .  Slider foods that are the foods that dont stick with you .

for example. Ice cream is a really good one, chips, cookies, candy things like that . Things that has no protein in it basically is what I call slider foods.

Popcorn is a slider for me . I can eat and eat and eat that stuff and never get full .

Chips is another one . I could sit down and eat probably half of a bag of chips and not realize it because it dont stick to your gut kind of food .

That is why they really stress to eat your protein first because its a dense kind of food that stays with  you for a long time.

I can eat a Sausage , Egg Cheese Muffin in the morning eat that around 8 am and not eat again till about 1 pm when Days comes on lol that is when I know its lunchtime when Days of Our Lives comes on lol.

That breakfast has about 30 grams of protein in that meal  that is why it last so long for me.


Remember just because you got the band dont mean you will lose weight.  You have to make the right choices in food, you have to learn what is actual hunger and not head hunger, bored hunger and things like that .  The band dont stop all that stuff only you can control that .   That is why you still need self control and will power for this all to work :o)

I can sit down and eat junk food all day even with this band in me and gain weight or not lose .  The choices still has to be made by you and you alone .

OMG Steelerfan read my mind!
and the sweetheart that she is has got me craving kettle corn (it's the TOM for me!) LOL!  But I found it at my local Whole Foods (made fresh) and asked them to make me a small portion-sized bag.  Filled my craving.

When I have my slider foods, I have just a bite of it... or the smallest portion I can find!  I don't keep any of the junk in my house.  If I'm craving it, I'll go out to the store and buy the smallest bag or scoop I can find.  It keeps me in check and prevents me from binging on it.

all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence.  I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!

lmao Jan isn't that stuff the greatest !!!  Oh my go****s sweet and salty at the same time the exact thing I desire when its that TOM .  

I ate two bags of that stuff last week  Thank goodness its only once a month a crave that stuff.   yikes !!

Now I can go back and get my favorite salads and not worry about buying any till next month lol.

I'm the opposite of Jan on one thing I can keep that stuff in my house Ice Cream, cookies and things like that in my house. I just never ate that stuff before I got the band so it dont bother me having it in my house .  The only time it gives me problems is like Jan said TOM and then I really have to watch myself because I will snack way to much on it as you can see with my Kettle Corn dang it lmao.

We have Heath Ice Cream Bars in the freezer and last week those was calling my name but the Kettle Corn won out lol.   And I dont even like Ice Cream. I eat that stuff maybe once a yr twice a yr if we go to a ice cream social .   My hubby can chow down on that stuff though lol.  My gosh I probably got three different Ice Cream things in my freezer just for him and son .

I know that being outside of the house helps a lot for me. I work part-time and while there, I am too busy to thnk about eating foods that I shouldn't consume. After a very long walk I also behave better. You have to find what works for you.

oh slider foods..never heard it called that but yeah ice cream, chips, pretty much the foods that you know deep down are bad for you. I love them but they don't like my new size.
