Did any one else have the fear that I do?

Hello all,
I am getting my surgery date this next coming week. I am totally freaked out and nervous beyond words about getting surgery. I have chosen Lapband because I don't want something as dangerous as RNY or Sleeve etc... They really don't have much long term outcomes of how those surgeries have affected people years down the road. Yeah I know they do not have that with the lapband either. But i'm not to fond of moving/switching things around my "inards". Anyways this is besides the point.

I have never had ANY kind of surgery whats so ever in my life. And i'm scared Shi#@less. Did anyone else freak out as much as I am thinking you were going to die, never wake up etc? Or am I the only crazy one?

ALSO, from the time you got your surgery, how long has it been and how much how you lost since your actualy surgery (not counting before surgery).

 Thank you

I have the exact same fear that you do.  The only surgery I ever had was a planned C-section with my twins 8 years ago, and I was awake the whole time.  AND, my spinal took 6 - 8 hours to wear off instead of the 2 the nurses said it would take.  I'm going under willingly, and that scares the begeezes out of me!

Yes ma'am.  I made my Dr. so mad on the day of my surgery he walked out on me and had to come back to see if I was ready to have the surgery or go home.  :(

I have to say I wish I had done the later, but I have had quite a few complications.  I have lost 20 lbs in only 4 weeks though. :)...and have learned so much along the way.

I hope your surgery goes well.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Normal, was my fear as well but I got over it :) No sense in worrying when you're in good hands, at least that's how I saw it.

I was banded May 10 2010, have lost 115lbs+

Good luck on your surgery!

The surgery will be the least of your problems.  You should spend you time researching the statistics on the long term outcome of the band.  It might give you something to really freak out over.

Actually, I am encouraging anyone considering the band to reconsider.  There is a good chance it isn't going to work for you the way you hope it will.

Read a lot on all of the different boards here and you will see a large number of people who have revised to a different surgery after the band failed them.  There are many many more wishing they can revise.

Yes dear, I am for real.  Check out the revisions board and check out all of the former bandsters who have revised to other surgeries.  I don't think you will come across any *****gret getting rid of the band and getting a surgery that they can live with and lose weight.

The band is a very iffy product and very few people can actually eat normally and lose the weight they want to lose.

When researching the band it is best to take off the rose colored glasses.
