Kim...everything I mentioned is FACT...and of course I am not a weight loss specialist, nor do I try to be...but I DO KNOW the side effects for EVERY SINGLE SURGERY AND THAT'S A FACT. The only thing that was sarcastic about my post was wanting a revision...you get that.
I'm sure that is YOUR fact. Show your facts and where you obtained your facts. The fact is there are many revisions of lap band on this site. Go to the revision site if you need facts. So there is a risk with all the surgeries. With the band you may have fill and unfilled, corrosion, slippage, flipage, scar tissues. Not to say that this will happen. I hope not. I would not wish this on anyone including you.The good thing about the band is that you can take it out, but that scar tissue will still be there. There are many risks to ALL SURGERIES but the good out way the bad.
The lap band need to make your their spokes person, really. You have real passion for the band and you are willing to lie for it. Maybe you have been misinformed. But please read the facts if you want to state the facts. It really quite comical. If you think Lies and Fact then so be it. No one believes it but you. I'm sure you get that a lot.

When the band slips from non-compliance such as....not allowing it to heal post op, eating solids foods before it heals...getting fills too early and too frequently...and tightening up to the point that it damages the esophagus or abusing it by having it so tight and vomiting every single day...THEY DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT THAT DO THEY? YOU SEE THE BAND CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND PAINFUL IF YOU ABUSE IT. YOU SEE WITH THE BAND YOU CAN ADJUST IT TO THE POINT OF BARELY SWALLOWING YOUR SPIT...YOU CAN'T DO THAT WITH THE SLEEVE YOU ARE STUCK WITH THE RESTRICTION YOUR SURGEON GIVES YOU..
SURE...there are people that had legitimate band issues their body may have rejected it..which is rare, or their surgeon installed it wrong, some people have minor port problems and some people just can't lose weight with the band...these people have my sympathy... COMPLICATIONS CAN HAPPEN WITH ANY SURGERY...BUT I DO KNOW for a FACT things that happen with the band is easily fixed ...even a slipped band can be fixed if caught it time with no surgery....and the BAND IS STILL THE SAFEST WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY...until the medical community change that I will believe it.
They just say..OH my band is a piece of crap and it does not work...they don't tell you they refused to get an unfill when they were too tight...they just come back here to terrorize the lap band forum when they experience PERMANENT BAND DAMAGE and their bands have to come out.....THIS TRAP HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE...this is why I try to come back to warn newbies. I have nothing against the Sleeve, but the lap band forum get bombarded DAILY with ex-lap banders spewing poising on how better their Sleeve is...OF COURSE their Sleeve is going to FEEL BETTER THAN A DAMAGED BAND...FOR GOD SAKE....are people here that ignorant and stupid to fall for this crap?
I see your BMI is in the 50's my starting BMI was 49 would I recommend the band to you? NO, I would not recommend the band to anyone that I know may have difficulties walking DAILY or exercising..not saying you will not have to do those things with your Sleeve, but with band it requires maintenance in the first year....whereas with Sleeve you have TIGHT RESTRICTION immediately which will GIVE YOU IMMEDIATE WEIGHT LOSS, BUT AFTER 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR MOST SLEEVERS STOP LOSING WEIGHT UNLESS THEY DO IT ON THEIR OWN THERE IS A WINDOW OF WEIGHT LOSS WITH THE SLEEVE since your RESTRICTION IS TIGHT FROM THE GIT-GO..MOST bandsters have to wait to get filled tight and this can take several months this is why weight loss is a BIT SLOWER with the band because the band CANNOT be safely adjusted aggressively without damage and complication THERE IS NO WINDOW OF WEIGHT LOSS WITH THE BAND IT KEEPS ON WORKING FOREVER UNLESS IT SLIPS OR THERE IS DAMAGE...the PROBLEM IS MANY PATIENTS PUSH their surgeons for aggressive fills WHICH IN THE END CAUSE PERMANENT BAND DAMAGE.
The problem is you only hear the wrong side of the band from those who are complaining about it.....the band is A GREAT TOOL and many have success with it...it is not perfect but if used wisely can be a safe long lasting tool for weight loss and maintenance....I wish you look and success with your Sleeve.
Did you not see me write there is risk in all surgeries. I am not a bash-er of lap band. It has helped many people out and hurt some also. Same way with the sleeve. My opinion the sleeve has less maintenance. I have researched both of these surgeries (band and sleeve). Sleeve is better for me. I personally do not like that I will have a long term relationship with my doctor $$$$$ going to get fills and unfills.
I would not go around spreading lies about other surgeries because it is your preference for the band. That's what you do. That's fine.
These are tools (sleeve and band). For the most part you will do it on your own.

If life with your band sucks, you are not alone and it's not your fault. Check out the failed lap band group!

Step M....I thought you had me blocked ...of course I am not a role model for those WHO ABUSE THEIR BANDS...you just posted recently about your DIS-SATISFACTION WITH YOUR WEIGHT LOSS AND YOUR REGRET FOR YOUR BAND.....SO I GUESS MY POST PUT A DENT IN YOUR REVISION PLANS....
Now you have proven that you will say anything to make your point, valid or not...
I have never posted that I am dissatisfied with my band or unhappy with my progress or that I regret getting the band, Quite the contrary. I am where I thought I would be at this point and don't have any issues with my band.
I have posted that I would probably choose the VSG if I were to be making the decision today...but I have never said I regret getting my band. I am realistic and realize that I might develop a problem down the road and I do have a Plan B just in case.
As far as blocking you, I did on a couple of occasions, have you blocked for a couple of weeks...my tolerance meter topped out and I just couldn't stand to see one more word of your rediculous and pious attitude towards those who have had problems. Bands can slip for many reasons, not just because someone "broke the band rules ala Nana". Your constant spouting off about those who have had complications being at fault and causing their complications is tiring and repetitive and serves no purpose except to garner attention for yourself. Unfortunately, the attention you get is mostly negative and only makes you look silly.
If you want to back up your reply to me with a link, I would love to see it....
Still waiting for that link, Naomi...you cannot just lie and expect someone to let it stand. Post proof or retract the above statement.

Spreading misinformation about the surgeries available to revise to isn't helping anyone. She's just scratching her own itch to be a ***** and that is sucky.
