For your amusement

 Two things:

1. It always makes me chuckle when I share dinner with my 2 year old, and he eats more than me. Tonight my husband is out of town, so we split a turkey pot pie. He ate more than I did.
Of course, I'll be having a snack of smoked salmon later, so I guess it all evens out.

2. I pride myself on being a very capable woman. Sure I get hubby to do most of the home repair stuff, but sometimes I will specifically wait until he isn't around to do things because I did those things all myself before we were married thankyouverymuch and I still can, so there.
So tonight, as I'm cleaning up, the garbage disposal/sink gets clogged. AGAIN. This is an ongoing problem. We're renting or I would have replaced the damn thing already. Hubby of course is out of town. OK so I've found that sometimes it works to fill up the disposal side of the sink all the way with water and then run it through, it seems to push the clog out. Well, not tonight. OK, so I try the plunger. No dice there, it pushes the water from one side of the sink to the other and that's it. OK, fine, time to get out the big guns. When the landlord sends the plumber, all he does is undo the p-trap under the sink and drain it that way. I go get the bucket and proceed. Well, when there's a large volume of water in the sink, apparently it comes out with quite a bit of force when that pipe is unhooked. Soaked me with nasty sink water full of eggshells and watermelon and who knows what else. Sprayed everywhere under the sink, all over the kitchen floor. I did get *most* of it in the bucket though.
On the plus side, it's now cleaner under the sink than it was when I moved in.
And now, I plan to have a nice stiff drink (Zevia caffiene free cola with a splash of whiskey, aww yeah).

Dev,

Story #1 made me smile, but Story #2 brought back some unhappy memories of my own in the home plumbing department!

Enjoy your drink!

Thanks for the story - I'm a single Mom, so I can relate!

BTW ~ I never put egg shells down the diposal - I've heard it's not good for them......maybe that contributed to the problem?

Hard to say, everything clogs it right now. The eggshells were actually ground up a lot more than the vegetable matter. I think the disposal is failing and it's just leaving things to chunky to easily flow through the pipes, leading to clogs. I'm going to make the landlord replace it, I'm tired of dealing with it. I've never had a garbage disposal clog this much.

Try running some ice cubes thu, it sharpens the blades and helps with odors...It doesn't always help but you can always try it,,it can't hurt..

Most of my grandkids out eat me.  And only since my DH had a couple of stokes do I work with the plumbing or any other household repairs.
As for the drink, I definitely would have needed one or two w/o cola.  Enjoy
