reflecting on the past year... cause its my BANDiversary!
Wynell,
I didn't feel a significant degree of what we call "restriction" (whatever the heck that is****il after my 3rd fill. I lost 100% of my excess weight feeling LESS restriction than I feel now, 3 yrs later.
How do you define restriction? If you're waiting for alarms to go off and bells to start clanging when it's time to stop eating, you're waiting in vain. And if you eat until you experience negative symptoms (stuck episodes, PB'ing, sliming), you're liable to end up with complications you don't want. Even plain old overeating (eating that entire 8 oz ribeye) packs your upper stomach pouch with food that puts too much pressure on the band and can force it to slip out of position.
When you're grazing all the time, is it because you're physically hungry, or because you're bored, or what? The band isn't going to eliminate boredom, stress, or that kind of thing from your life, so you have to be the one to change how you respond to it. If you're grazing because you're physically hungry all the time, I suggest that you talk to your surgeon. If it were me, I'd describe my eating patterns and say something like, "What can we do to speed up my weight loss?" It's perfectly OK to make a request like that of your surgeon. It's his/her JOB to help you use your band in an optimal way so you can get rid of that excess weight.
