Confession is good 4 the soul
I see others on the "what we are eating today" list 10 almonds or 1/4 cup almonds as a snack. I see that and think, wish I could do that. I can do the 100 calorie packs, but my WM is currently out of my favorite, the chocolate roasted.
Today I was at the grocery store, and the blazin' buffalo wings flavored almonds were on clearance. A can holds 6 servings.. each serving 170 calories. Yikes. I thought, I shouldn't buy this. I thought, you can do 10 almonds at a time.
So I bought it. Brought it home. Had 10 almonds at noon. By 3pm the can was empty. :( Blew my calorie allotment for the day. But at least I wasn't as hungry by suppertime.. LOL.
I have little self-control where things like spicy, salty almonds are concerned. Oh well.. I won't buy them again for a long long time. :)

I'm that way when it comes to chips or cookies. There is no such thing as, a serving size. I will eat just a little more and a little more....till it's gone. I just don't buy anything like that and bring it into my house. When I treat myself with anything I have will power issues with, I will buy a single serve portion only. Those 100 calorie packs are bad too. I will just keep opening another bag till those are gone. On my birthday I ate wayyyyy too much cookies (my weakness). But I figured it was my birthday and it's one day...I'm not going too worry about it.
Skipping supper isn't good...even if your ate too much during the day. Not eating for several hours lowers your metabolism.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I didn't skip supper, I just had 2oz of meat instead of my normal 3 and was satisfied.
I do OK with the 100 calorie packs of almonds. They're sometimes my evening snack. 100 calorie packs of Cheezits are another story. :(
Maybe next time (months from now) I bring home a can of almonds, I'll get out my ziplocks and portion out 10 per bag and then put them away. Allow myself one baggie after my workouts. Worth a try anyhow.

@ not eating for several hours. Not true!! I fast for 16 hours a day and my metabolism has probably sped up. I do agree, however, that there's no need to skip dinner (not saying you did).
@ OP Hope you enjoyed your almonds! I too eat them like they're candy so I have to put a tight limit on them as the calories add up quickly!

From a size 20 to a size 2! Woo hoo.
You are amazing and have done so well!!! Don't be so hard on yourself!
I am one of those freaks that can eat only 10 almonds at a time. HOWEVER, I am a total newbie here. I am the best rule follower in the whole wide world....RIGHT NOW!! I only count out 10, which is very freakish, and put them in a little container to bring to work. When they are gone, I am done. That being said, I buy my raw or tamarind almonds in bulk. I will NOT buy blazing buffalo, or salt and vinegar, etc.etc.etc., because I do not believe I can control myself around those.
You will also NOT catch me trying any protein muffins/cake/pancakes, etc. Protein or not, those types of things have been horrible for me in the past. I can't get past the "goodness" of it, I only see the "it's a CAKE" part of it. Same goes with protein bars. I read the labels, know that they aren't horrible, but can't get over the IDEA that they are a glorified candy bar. ~sighs~ We all have our quirks.
Keeping stuff out of the house has so worked for me in the past. It's something I am going to have to continue to do.

I've been cutting the protein bars in half and having the half for my bedtime treat. So far that's working. I just want a small treat at night, and the protein seems to keep me satisfied longer than s/f candy.
Whatever works for each of us is the way to work it. We all have to find our own path.
I can resist the plain almonds a little easier than the flavored ones, but still not easy for me.
I'm not beating myself up over my indulgence.. just confessing and putting it behind me and will try not to do it again too soon. :)

I am totally with you on the protein bars. They are just candy bars to me and trigger the I WANT MORE reaction. I have to really stay focused on the meat/protein veggies and fruit. Any carbs in starchy or bread-family type things and I am off and running into the danger zone. Best not to go there in the first place.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I can eat 10 almonds at a time -- only because I'm not crazy about them : ) Does that count ; ) Cashews are my weakness. I have to buy those by the tiny single serving bag and they are still a ton of calories because they have more fat than almonds. In a crazy way I'm glad the tiny bags are so expensive that way I'm not tempted to buy them very often.

Lisa --- I think we have all had a day like this one ---- like, "I know I should not do this -- oh, I can handle it, wait where the heck did they go???"
I can't bring Tortillia chips into the house -- I just eat them out ---- and candy/cookies/cake -- I don't even eat them out -- they are like poison to me.
Better food day tomorrow, friend --- lesson learned!
