Thinking about having Lap band

My advice is to follow your post op diet of soft/mushy foods for 6 weeks, always remember the band is A TOOL, and you must change your lifestyle to be successful..i.e  some form of exercise, and focus on lean proteins and getting your water intake in. Follow up with your surgeon immediately if you experience any bad side effects like reflux or frequent vomiting regardless of how small your bites are.

I started at 326, I lost about 40 pounds in 2 months since I was a heavy weight and followed the rules and I walked about 1 hour each day, I also followed up with my surgeon every 4-6 weeks to get needed fills and sometimes unfills if I were too tight, sometimes fills are not an exact science so you sometimes it takes some tweaking with get the adjustments at a happy medium.

I lost 100 pounds by 10 months post op, went from a size 26 to size 16 in my first year, then lost an additional 30 pounds by 18 months post op, I got down as low as some size 8s, but I had to exercise too much to maintain that low weight, but I am happy right where I am now with little to no effort at size 12 at 5'8 inches tall, and I am still maintaining most of that lost, it was much easier for me to maintain my lost than to lose it. The band just made it easier for me to stay on track with very small meals....I am still happy with it going on 6 years...it's not a perfect tool but it's SAFER than any other weight loss surgery and so far no complications and no hospitalizations and I am grateful for that and there is no way I would have kept my weight down this long without my band..........good luck.
