Anyone on their 2nd LapBand?
You are doing your routine backwards. You should do weight lifting first so you can give all your energy to that. If you lift weights after cardio, you will not lift them correctly nor have the energy to do as much. So, with that said, I wouldn't give your statement any credit. Aren't you also struggling with losing weight yourself?
Cardio only burns the calories while you are exercising. Weight training continues to burn calories HOURS/DAYS after working out. The only thing that "feeds" muscle is protein. Lifting doesn't feed anything - it stretches the muscle and causes the muscle to repair itself, thus creating more mass (muscle).

I love how this post has taken a turn into the complications of having a band. When clearly we don't think that's the issue yet. You had your band repaired your going slowly with fills the doctor should.. and most doctors will not clear you for a fill unless 4-6 weeks has passed that's the norm.
I do understand you don't feel full between 2-3 hours between meals so you need another fill.. that is clear. Hopefully with your next well you will feel full.... the band is only to help you reduce how much you consume... we still have free will and can eat most things both good and bad food choices. You have to listen to your body if your hungry between meals then you need to reach for things like fruit, veggies and or cheese sticks. You have to make better choices in food..
Even if you feel like you can consume larger amounts of food 2 servings of oatmeal and 2 cups of skim milk is only 330 calories ... 2 cups of chopped chicken breast and two cups of green beans 552 depending on the protein and veggie you have at dinner that's another 600 calories
3 snacks throughout the day: string cheese, an apple, and a necatarine - that is alot of food and the grand total is 1675...I know you don't like the nut in your doctors office but I don't want to be a meanie there is something going on with the food choices ... bottom line.. the band only limits how much we eat and you clearly need a fill but you need to manage your choices of food as well. You need to really listen to your body to make sure you feel actual hunger between meals and not head hunger.. to be honest if it was up to ME I would snack on chips just because I want them.. I have to fight the girl inside me that wants to eat junk and I crave it all the time. My office is stocked with candy bars, mini bags of chips, pretzels, nuts, crackers with cheese and I have to avoid consuming it every single day and it's not easy.. I crave junk 24/7 we have food issues I didn't get over weight consuming chicken breast and veggies..
You need to take a breather , take a step back and really evaulate your food choices and exercise. Even if you can consume more food you still need to reach for better choices..

Hermosa,
Thank you for setting this thread straight. I'm not looking to find the negatives with this type of surgery...not yet anyway. I asked my doctor about getting RNY for my 2nd surgery, but he said, "You have been successful with this type, there's no reason we wouldn't do the Lap Band again." So, I believed him. I like the band simply because it does make me slow down. Other surgeries are more forgiving if you eat faster. However, at this point, I would have LOVED to have the RNY now because I probably would be thin by now. The good news is it's very unlikely I will have another slipped band because he does the fluor x-ray everytime I go in for a visit. They can see everything. My esophogas was enlarged before the 2nd surgery and now by the looks of things, it's corrected itself and it's working fine now. So I am extremely happy about that, because that really does make or break the Lap Band. I do agree with the other poster that the band is much more invasive than we all think. I never really realized the esophogas could be damaged so easily, but I do now.
Regarding the exercise: In my original post I shared that I was exercising 2x a day (walking 2-3 miles at lunch and taking water aerobics after work) and I was on a lower carb diet (not extreme, but avoiding breads, rice and pasta). I didn't lose any weight! I just maintained. I lost 125 lbs with my first surgery eating junk food every day and I only exercised 1x a day for 20-25 minutes. I would have Cheetos, ice cream, candy bars REGULARLY almost DAILY. Now, I don't keep ice cream, candy, Cheetos or any bad junk food in my house. I went 7 months without exercise, ate what I wanted and only gained 8 lbs. I'd say that's pretty incredible, considering the junk food goes down like gravy.
I'm not trying to justify what I did, but it just doesn't make sense to me now especially since this is what I've been eating on a regular basis for the last couple months:
B: Scrambled eggs with salsa
S: Greek yogurt (140 calories)
L: Turkey patty with tomatoes, cucumbers and ranch (or edamame instead of the other veggies)
S: dark chocolate acai berries (180 calories - but I've stopped it this week because it's given me consistent afternoon headaches about 30 minutes after eating them)
D: chicken, fish or some type of meat with a baked potato and veggies (not always a baked potato either)
S: something sweet (my sin for the day - like starbursts (240 calories)
Now I am playing softball 1x week for 2 hours and that's a lot of exercise and doing the strength training. I will join the gym shortly (just gotta get my financials in order 1st). I have a ton of videos at home for exercise (including P90x), but I have hardwood floors and an unfinished basement. I already tried it on my hardwood floors - a 270 lb woman jumping around wrecks HAVOC on hardwood floors and joices. So, now all I do is the strength training because I'm standing still.
So, yeah, a fill would do wonders right now. If I could just eliminate my snacks (equvalent to 560+ calories), I would be able to control the calorie count. It's all about the calories right now. I've had my TSH checked and I'm barely above normal by .2 points. I was 3.2. A lacking thyroid is presumed to be anything over 3.0, but not according to the doctors, only what I read on the internet. I have been checked for diabetes and I'm clear (not even pre-set diabetes, which is amazing given my sweet tooth).
I guess more or less I just wanted to know if others had success with a 2nd surgery. I know it's not that common to get a repair/revision surgery of the same type, so I don't get a lot of feedback on this particular issue.
I will just sit tight until my next fill (this Tuesday). Another reason I think my fills are not as aggressive is because I'm having them done midday (around 12:30) and I know my band/stomach/whatever isn't as "open". My first surgery I was having fills at 4:00 pm and I was getting larger fills because I was more "open." I think I may have just answered my own question about my fills. LOL LOL LOL

Something else I wanted to add is I don't crave junk food like it sounds like you do. The difference is if I have a true craving for something specific, I just eat it. That way it is out of my system. If I want chocolate, I don't go grab carrots. Because if I grab the carrots, I will eat them, and then something else and something else because my real craving did not go away. So, instead of having NON STOP cravings all day long, I get what I want and then I'm satisfied and I don't need anything else.
I had 2 bands and had 2 bands removed.
I also work out like a madwoman now that I'm "on my own." But, I'm finding that exercise isn't enough, unfortunately. It's such a hard thing... some people lose weight the first week they start walking on a treadmill while others can work out like crazy and not lose a pound.
I feel for you!
